Czech Casting raided by police

For those like me that hate clicking on links, here is the content.

They wanted to be models. Mostly, college students, the young women submitted online applications that promised a “comfortable start” in the industry — only to learn that the modeling job was a pornography shoot.

Detectives from the National Centre for Combatting Organized Crime have uncovered a group of nine people who offered paid professional modeling photograph opportunities, but in reality, they manipulate them into filming pornographic videos and put online under the channel “Czech casting”.

The nine people are accused of human trafficking, sexual coercion and rape, spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej, told police on Friday.

“From 2013, they have been advertised job offers presented as professional modeling photography for women over 18, promising earnings ranging from CZK 1,000 to CZK 5,000. However, according to our investigations, it was just a pretext to manipulate the women to produce and distribute pornographic videos,” said Ibehej.

The group was well organized. “They were bringing the women to the casting place, signing contracts for the casting, verifying the age of majority, and conducting professional interviews,” added Ibehej.

“Czech police is still in the process of identifying all the women recruited, filmed, coerced and defrauded by this conspiracy,” the complaint says.

The videos were posted online causing personal and employment difficulties to many of the victims. The women say they were horrified to find out their shoots were online; many were harassed or ostracized as a result.

“Many of them have experienced mental and health problems, including long periods of medical treatment,” Ibehej said.

According to Seznam Zprávy, the company managing the channel Czech casting is NETLOOK s.r.o, the largest producer of pornography in the Czech Republic and based in Prague’s Vokovice.

NETLOOK lawyer, David Bascheri, denies all of the allegations. “The women knew what they were getting into and signed contracts allowing the videos’ online distribution, and they knew the risks,” he said.

Disgusting story, I wonder now if is still legal to watch these videos?, They talked about rape, so the content should be removed.

I hope this kind of things won't happen anymore, there are clean way to shoot porn.
This kind of stories is really bad for the porn industry.
It make them look like bad people, and then the medias attacks pornography and politics bring new laws like in the crappy one in UK.

Sad for the ladies that got abused, sad for companies that do it the clean way, sad for porn workers, and sad for the porn fans.

I visited Prague. Predators move into these previously Eastern-bloc countries once Communism / the State "falls." People have NO IDEA how they will eat, put a roof over their head, clothes on their backs, etc. So, they take advantage of the situation..

Come again? What you're speaking here about is one of the most developed countries of the European Union.

Where in the world did you come up with the idea that people, I quote you, don't know what they will eat and put a roof over their head? Did you witness something like this personally? I sincerely doubt it.

You westerners need to get rid of that "poor living" approach to post-communist countries.

I'm curious. The case seems to have been dropped, as the site is still (or again) online. I've read somewhere that there were some agreements with some of the women who sued, but all in all, it doesn't seem to have interrupted their business. I tried to find something about the outcome, but all I found were the news about the raid. So, does anybody have information about this?

some of the models were removed from the site . (years ago, now.)
private agreements were made.
that is all.

Yup, that's what it says in forums all over the place, but without sources it's just hearsay. Maybe I should have stated that clearer, what I'm looking for are primary sources, news articles and the like, even court publications or statements, of which there must have been some.

The allegations were pretty serious, up to rape, battery, and assault if I remember correctly, and I would like to know how the court argued, whether the proceeding were canceled because there were agreements, or whether the case was dropped due to other reasons. I don't know about Czech law, but where I live, the state must prosecute crimes like that, and it can only end in either a conviction or acquittal. Private agreements do not matter in such cases. A double sided sword sometimes, but at least it makes clear that you can't buy yourself out of your troubles just because you have the money. Of course, if a rape victim, for instance, doesn't want to give testimony, there is not much the prosecution can do about it. But if people like those scumbags can avoid prosecution by making these private agreements, I don't think it's a good thing.

So, there must be public statements by the court, the prosecution, and others involved. I'm just too stupid to find them, it would seem, and it's also not helpful that the sources are presumably in Czech, which makes it hard to even know what to search for in a foreign language.

Take care!

a 10 second google search or clicking on translate will work well enough.

I'm not familiar with Czech law, either. But We're all familiar with corruption and paying off legal issues with money . :(

the fact that you've heard nothing about it for years means exactly what it sounds like - it has been settled privately, but nit so much that it caused news agencies to redact the reporting.

or.. to be snarky AF to all parties involved - viewers, fans and producers... IT WAS A CASTING COUCH! OF COURSE ILLEGAL THINGs HAPPENED, THERE!
One would be wise to avoid sites that are, obviously... under watch by international police agencies.
One imagines just discussing it online puts you on a list.

Be sAfe ouT tHeRe. ;)

Hmm, so your 10 second google search revealed exactly the same old news articles I was referring to in my first post. As a janitor, you should know that there is nothing as outdated as the papers from yesterday. ;-)

And sorry, no, I disagree with your overly willing assumption of corruption. I don't know where you live, and whether what you say is true there. But to assume it was the case just because it's Czechia or because it was like that everywhere is just offensive.

In some countries where the law system derives from the old English law, money can indeed buy you out of more things than in the more codified law systems of continental Europe. Things like NDAs and other private agreements are much less regulated in the former than in the latter (we all know how a certain orange creature uses that to his advantage, don't we...). This is true for private agreements, but as well for simple things like a rental contract. Where I live, your rental contract can be surprisingly short, because most of the details are covered in standard legal norms, and only if you want to deviate from them, you would add that to the contract. Also, there are norms that are absolutely binding and cannot be deviated from in order to keep the balance between both parties and not give one an unfair advantage. But this is private law and not criminal law. In the case in question, it was a criminal prosecution.

In that regard, I would speculate that Czechia has a similar system to other European countries where a criminal case is separate from the civil case where it's about compensations and the said private agreements, but not as separate as in the US. Just remember the case of OJ Simpson, where he was acquitted of the murder in the criminal case but where he still had to pay compensation in the civil case because he was practically convicted for the murder he was acquitted in the other case. So, in a nutshell, whether there were private agreements does not necessarily have an impact on the criminal case in the European law systems I know. Money can't buy your way out of the court room there as easily. Whether it's the same in Czechia, I don't know. The more reason to find out how it went.

And there is no way that there was no court statements, publications, or documents. A case cannot be closed without that. These are legal norms everywhere. There must be a case number, and there must be a space where the rulings etc. are available to the public. After all, it's not a secret court. The problem is that if it's not in English or another widely spoken language, the search engines won't list it prominently enough to find it with a reasonable effort. Of course, the closing of the case was certainly not as spectacular as the opening with the raid, but there will always be some reporting, even if it's only in specialized journals.

So my question still stands, and maybe somebody from Czechia can provide some primary sources someday.

Just another find, loosely connected to this.

The more I read about the whole matter in particular and about the business we are talking about in general, the more I realize how very careful one should be in selecting what to consume. In all kinds of industries, you have certificates and quality seals. You can buy fair-trade coffee or shirts made of fair-trade cotton. You can buy carbon-neutral chocolate. You can buy bio-food, vegan stuff, and what not. Sometimes, you see the label "vegan" even on salt or on table water. There are also products guaranteed to not have been made by children.

Why is there no label "Vegan Porn" or something like that? I think the majority of consumers are not that numb as to ignore completely what is happening behind the scenes. Mostly, they tend to close their eyes, though, like many people do with matters like plastic waste, climate change, or far right extremism. It's just too convenient. But for each of those things, there is time to wake up.

Still, I think, there are porn labels that you can trust more than others. It's a matter of opening one's eyes.

I stumbled over Little Caprice lately, who never was my type in the past, maybe because in her early days she just had that teenie appeal in her face which I'm not into. Strangely, now, at almost 36, an age where others already transition into the "mature" section, with a flawless "un-enhanced" body and face, for me, she is easily one of the most beautiful women, and not only in porn, who still would outshine 99% of all the much younger talent who could almost be her daughters. She has her own production company together with her husband, and they also do porn together. From what I have seen so far, theirs could well be such a "vegan" label.

It's a bit like with buying stuff from Amazon or Walmart as opposed to from your local shops. You know that the mega corporations ruin your local businesses by destroying the competition with dumping prices and other practices. If you want to keep your local mom and pop store, you shouldn't buy from the big ones. If you want to know what's in your food, buy locally. It may cost a little bit more, but in the end, it's worth it. And if mom and pop look like Little Caprice, all the better...
