Cure for depression

I usually buy a hot dog and wander around until I find a homeless person. I then eat the hot dog in front of them until there are about two bites left and just complain about how full I am and then throw it down and step on it. I feel thousands of times better!

In all seriousness though, exercise works wonders and if you're not into exercise, hang out with some friends and do something outdoors, like go to the beach or something and if even the outdoors isn't your thing, play some videogames or something and if anything above isn't your thing then seriously, you need to find some sort of hobby!!! That's probably why you're depressed in the first place then!

Also, if you don't have a dog or some kind of pet that can show affection, I highly suggest that as well. Studies have shown that people with at least dogs live happier lives

DO NOT DRINK WHEN YOU ARE DEPRESSED!

Alot of people think getting wasted is a cure. It isn't. It's like putting a boring telephone call on hold. Sometimes it makes it worst. Especially if you're drinking alone. Sometimes you need to have a best buddy take you out, set you down on a barstool, feed you beer and let you have a good cry on their shoulder. And that certainly can help. But booze alone is no cure.

Think about it. What's better? Being down, or being unhealthy and out of shape? REM sleep deprived, hungover, dehydrated and nasty. There are far better things to do for that. Even the... ummm... waterpipe beats drinking to clear your mind.

Firstly, you need to get the fuck out of your head. Get up with your friends and go to the beach, or the movies, a cookout. Whatever. Don't be alone. Don't do things that remind you of why you're depressed. Try to be positive. Stop thinking about the past. Stop thinking so much. Period.

If this doesn't help to take your mind off of it, then you need to get it out of your mind. So talk it out. Do the bar thing with a buddy and a good cry. You can't pry the bad stuff out with a screwdriver, so this is the next best thing. If you don't have a commiserating friend, start a diary. Write poetry. Play an instrument? Write a song.

Read a book. Treat yourself to your favorite foods. Watch your favorite movies. Listen to your favorite music. Learn a new hobby.

Depression, I kind of think, is an addiction to being unhappy. You can't let go of the bad things that swirl in your head. So you need to treat it like an addiction, and live one day at a time. If you can try to be happy long enough, eventually you won't have to try anymore.

And remember. We all have things in our life that we are dissatisfied with. We each need to find our coping mechanisms. It can get tough, but hey. You're asking. So that's a start.

In my first great depression I started writing stories as a scape and I was doing good. Now when I feel depressed I create stories or scripts... not just about what makes me depressed just a way of open m mind
