I've been meaning to mouth off about this in a blog or something so why I don't I just let 'er rip and tidy up later if need be? I might be wrong but suspect that the comment you were prompted by was my theory (in the "Dicks are such a turn-on" thread) that cumshot scenes in porn movies could be interpretted as an undercurrent of homoeroticism. If that is the case I just want to say that it's just one of the reasons why cumshot scenes seem to be so important. Like I said, it's an UNDERcurrent. The main reason for believing this is that the cumshot scene originally was an exclusive gay porn matter. I think it was incorporated into straight porn from gay porn in the 70s. This is fact. Before then you could only see men ejaculating on each other, straight porn never featured cumshots. I think feminists would explain this by relating it to the women's lib movement and saying it's a male backlash on that movement: marking a woman with semen is symbol of male dominance. My personal theory is different, though. I do think it allows men to be aroused by other men without admitting or even realizing it since the woman constitutes an alibi.

But like I said, that is only ONE aspect of it all. I definitely agree with you that it's about acceptance and validation as well. I was only talking about cumshot scenes in movies, though, not cumshots in real life. Personally I think most facial cumshots are just ridiculous. For me, I was typically very passive with my lovers, and they had to beg for me to do something.
