Crazy Postal Worker Lands at US Capitol

That some 61-year-old postal worker from Tampa was able to penetrate a no-fly zone and land a gyrocopter at the US Capitol building without even being challenged just goes to show how totally vulnerable we are to terrorist attack.

I say he is crazy because anyone who flies a gyrocopter has a death wish....it's the most dangerous type of home-built sub-LSA type aircraft you can fly. If the main rotor engine fails, unlike a helicopter, a gyrocopter cannot autorotate to the ground....it just drops like a fucking rock. Not many pilots are crazy enough to fly one of these but this guy definitely qualifies....in more ways than one. It will be interesting to see what the authorities end up doing with him.

More people should be flying these copters.

Sorry Jagg but I want...no... NEED one of those. Land in Monmouth Park, Freehold, The Meadowlands, Yonkers, or Aqueduct infield in 20 minutes. No tolls. I would be King Shit. Herve Filion used to do that kind of thing.

You'll land a lot quicker if the main engine fails, Bob! Still, living where you do, might be worth the risk.

Get a paramotor instead is my advice. Slower but much, much safer. And still avoids traffic and tolls! What is the Verrazano now? Like $10??

16 bucks for cars coming into Staten Island, free to get out. Tractor trailers $100.

Personally, I'm still holding out hope for jet packs. Those past television shows' of days gone by versions of the future have really let me down.

On the other hand I'm sure if a jet pack fails the fall will be pretty brutal also.
