Could someone please explain something about the shutdown negotiations?

Let's assume that the shutdown is exclusively because of DACA and the Wall, and nothing else.

Why don't the Dems just let twump have his wall in exchange for DACA? Countless studies/articles/etc show that the wall is an impossibility, both physically, logistically and most important, financially (without mexico paying for it LOL). Even if they let him have the wall, it would eventually die out at some point for any one of these reasons. If anything the incomplete project would be great symbol of a twump failure. But DACA would carry on as usual.

Getting something you genuinely need in exchange for letting someone pursue their pipe dream seems like an easy decision. Why not just let him have it?

If the Dems said, "Sure, give us DACA and you can have your wall" and the gop refused, they could argue the mess is 100% gop made.

Keeping DACA doesn't mean you can't continue deportations or cut immigration. It's only for a very select segment of illegal immigrants. (You can still kick out their parents)

Anyone that says the wall is impossible due to geographic barriers needs to study the Lincoln tunnel and any other marvel of engineering. The southern border doesn’t even have any significant altitude obstacles. Just more smokescreens. That’s why they are stonewalling because the wall CAN be built and they know it.

Mid-term elections are getting close, this is no th time for Democrats to bow down to Trump and the GOP, to accept their horrendous bargains. This is the time to make a stand, to refuse that horrible budget.
The Republicans are controlling the White House, the Senate, the House and even the Supreme Court, who do you think the american people will blame for the shutdown ?
Also, keep in mind : shutdowns are bad for the stock market. Trump continuously brags about the stock market going up. So even the consequences of the shutdown on the economy would be good for democrats.

All I hope is that Democrats will stand their ground long enough to force GOP to reauthorise CHIP, let Daca recipients stay in the country and not to fund the wall.

Democrats have to defend about 20 or more senate seats. The Republicans only have to defend about 8. Also, historically Republican presidents and their party fare better during mid term elections than Democrat presidents and theirs. Democrats chose illegals over our military and American citizens. I'd be all for an even trade. The thing is ... DACA / the Dreamers is definitely NOT something we remotely genuinely need. Heck, it's not even the last thing we need. It's something we don't need PERIOD!

The Dreamers are nothing but an 800,000 illegal bunch of perpetually protesting, out of line, undeserved demand-making complainers, bitchers, belly-achers with some major nerve, gall and audacity. They're here illegally and yet have the gall to constantly be making demands to try and change the laws to shoehorn themselves into where they have no business being.

If they're already this much of a PITA when they're still illegal, I can just imagine what they'll be like IF they are given USA citizenship.

If ONLY! The thing is that that's where the Dreamers want to have their cake and eat it too. They want NO Wall as a condition in the negotiations ... citizenship for themselves ... AND for their parents.

And I have no doubt that as soon as their parents started to be kicked out, some shithole federal judge would come out of the woodwork or more like out of the sewer and BLOCK the long overdue, well-deserved kicking of those parents' asses out.

I can't believe that if the authorities know where the Dreamers are ... that they can't figure out where most of those parents are. If anything, those parents should be deported just for being horrible parents in hanging their kids (the Dreamers) out to dry to fend for themselves while they (the parents) are hiding in the shadows.

Republicans that were elected by American citizens don’t have to negotiate a deal to benefit non American citizens. Their first priorities are the people that put them in office.
