CNN Anchor Fired for Calling Jon Stewart a "Bigot"

I liked Rick Sanchez. He had legit passion about the stories he presented and the way he presented them. I will miss him.

I think Rick developed a thin skin once he became a CNN star...did he think he was above being lampooned/satirized? :dunno:

The Stewart bigot crap is nonsense...shame on you Rick.

Stewart has become what Bill Maher always wanted to be...relevant.

Basically. Bill Maher is now a far left extremist who's mission is to put his thumb on anyone who dares disagree.

Stewart has done what so many comedians turned far leftist goon have not, that is being funny, relevant, and able to attack all sides.

Will you ever comprehend that there are no "far left extremists" in mainstream American media? Both Bill Maher and John Stewart serve the mainstream.

Do you even have a clue what far left extremism actually is?

Bill Maher is not mainstream. You're asking me if I know what far left extremism is.

To quote Bill Maher "the left has moved to the center and the Republican Party has moved into a mental institution"

I think he got shit canned for his comments about the CNN higher ups more than his comment about JS

I find Jon Stewart to be mean at times. He is funny. I like Cobert better.

Are Jewish people a minority? Depends upon how you define it. Catholics are a minority too. Depends upon how you define it. I my opinion that comment wasn't completely off base.

In my opinion, I find MSNBC to be to the left, Fox News to be to the right, and typically CNN to be somewhere in the middle (although not dead center).

Sanchez will probably end up at Fox.

There should be an outlet for both ends to have a view. I'm very tired of people making fun of the left or right simply because they don't agree. Same people who argue that they want to see facts from the "right", insult them without examples. ...AND vice versa.

In my opinion, should he have been fired? Sure, what they hey, that is CNN's right (probably - who knows what the contracts look like). Should Sanchez have said what he said? Sure, what they hey, it is his right too. I really do wish he provided some examples.

If you choose to quote him.

Why don't you entlighten us on the subject? It would actually be quite refreshing to hear you tell us what liberals think for a change. You are probably the most left thinking person on this board and you spend far more time trying (unsuccessfully) to tell the world what conservatives think.

Were you being sarcastic or don't you know much about Sanchez? Sanchez is a progressive (so called "lib") and one of the MOST glaringly biased reporters/anchor out there. At least that's the way he came off on CNN...He's Cuban American and typically they lean republican so you could have a point since he has made some statements that can be taken different ways.

I agree with you. There should be as many networks a possible that offer competing biases...Just NOT with their reporting of news. Which is the distinction I find with Fox. They not only have biased commentators hosting a political side (which is fine) but they report biased news AND report it with a bias.

I don't have a problem with the networks as much as I do some of their "fans" who aren't interested in facts but whether or not their team entertains them.

The network is a joke when they play to fans who don't hold them to account for credibility nor consistency.

I just don't see how people can listen to commentators and so called reporters time and time again mislead them on facts and purposefully mischaracterize circumstances unless they see it as a game.:dunno:

Breibart (sp?) for example, knowingly perpetrates at least 2 hoaxes which clearly and purposefully mischaracterize events and circumstances...yet fans of this shit were lining up at the alter of sacrifice to lay down their integrity in defense of this clown. Defending what..I'm not sure of.

Why not just settle for him telling you to watch Stewart to find the examples yourself?:1orglaugh I mean, you can't expect him to do the work for you can you?

Yes, I was being sarcastic. (I said I like Cobert)

Ok, that is your opinion. I have no issue with you owning that. I have no issue with your owning your computer either.
I'm neither a fan nor supporter of Fox, so...what can I say?..."Good for you!"

You're just being mean and referring to another discussion. I gave you the source...you just never read it, so there was nothing to discuss.

I'll admit, I posted this for you. You did take the bait fully and attack when there was nothing to attack.

I still love you, even though you're a meanie! :iloveyou:

Sanchez's release by CNN comes one day after the television journalist called Comedy Central comedian Jon Stewart a "bigot" and suggested the host of "The Daily Show" did not fully understand the plight of minorities because of what Sanchez called his "privileged" upbringing.

I love how people attempt to slander a celebrity's childhood - as if they've aaaaalways been wealthy, well-liked, spoiled and, according to Rick Sanchez, "privileged" - just because they're currently rich and famous. Jon Stewart wasn't born a celebrity and he wasn't handed the Daily Show - he earned it by working hard at what he did. And, he got damn good at, but only after years and years of hard work and dedication. But yeah...I can see how someone would consider his past a "privileged" one

He added later that if Sanchez's views about Jews are correct, then "all he has to do is apologize to us, and we'll hire him back.
:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:clap:

Can we just agree that I would never attack you unless you were propped up doggystyle, gazing back at me longingly, batting your eyelashes saying, "come and get it.."?:rubbel::1orglaugh

Done!

(If it doesn't hurt you aren't doing it right!)

Oh, I thought we were talking about Mark Sanchez. He scored 2 touchdowns and now the Jets are 3-1. J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets!

Jon Stewart mocks Rick Sanchez after CNN firing

(Stewart) added later that if Sanchez's views about Jews are correct, then "all he has to do is apologize to us, and we'll hire him back."

That is one approach. I think the Daily show is funny, but sometimes I feel as though he does go beyond good taste and too far.

Perhaps a better approach to this would have been not to comment on Rick. I'm really not a big fan of either of these guys, but listenign to the Stewart clips doesn't really give me sympathy for Stewart.

It just seems like people don't miss the opportunity to throw another log on the fire of hate.

You can either take this as him playing the race card, or an honest voice in how prejudice shows in news networks...

"It's not just the right that does this. 'Cause I've known a lot of elite, Northeast establishment liberals that may not use this as a business model, but deep down, when they look at a guy like me, they look at a ... they see a guy automatically who belongs in the second tier and not the top tier ... White folks usually don't see it, but we do, those of us who are minorities ... Here, I'll give you my example, it's this, 'You know what, I don't want you anchoring anymore. I really don't see you as an anchor, I see you more as a reporter. I see you more as a John Quinones.' You know, the guy on ABC. That's what he told me, he told me he saw me as John Quinones. Now, did he not realize that he was telling me, 'when I see you I think of Hispanic reporters?' 'Cause in his mind, I can't be an anchor, an anchor's what you give the high profile white guys."

Is that what Sanchez said?
