Catalonia Bans Bullfighting

Heard that in the morning. (or when I woke up. :o) Finally! But like you said too many regions where it's still allowed. And that country is in the EU! Ridiculous! There are so many laws in the EU, but they don't ban THAT?! :nono:

Now if only the bull would have the know how to tear the guys jaw off his face every week, we might be rid of this once and for all.

But dammit I'm only one man!

I am a failure to the Korean side of my family
But can we as humans still get chased by them?

I understand that we have kill animals for food but I don't understand why we kill animals for sports, I'm glad they banned bullfighting in Catalonia.

This is good to hear. I always felt bad for the bulls. they're pretty much stabbed with arrows that have something on them that make them a little less agressive, yeah that's a fair fight. Doesn't mean I'm gonna stop eating meat though! :D

This is obviously good news, but its a bit rich of other countries to condemn bullfighting while at the same time have an appalling record of treating animals in their own country. . .

True but a victory in this one area is still a step forward. Better than none at all.

From what i understand no one HAS too eat animals, its a choice but I agree, I have no understanding of killing animals for sport

Finally. It's about time that so called sport was eliminated. All it was to begin with was a douche in tights compensating for his thumbtack between his legs.

Ireland and France still permit fox-hunting, which is arguably even worse. At least the bulls have some chance of skewering the matador. Foxes are chased until they're exhausted, and only then do they meet their grisly ends.

I don't see anything entertaining in killing stuff, but even if I did I can't understand fighting animals for sport unless the animals are on decent enough footing that they can win. If the people that did it faced more than a very marginal chance of an actual serious risk of bad injuries or death they wouldn't seem so ridiculous.

Won't someone please think of the poor matador?

I take no pleasure in seeing anyone hurt but it is hard to find compassion for a person that willingly torments animals to death. I am sure the bull would rather be left alone to eat and make baby bulls.
I kind of feel sorry for the dead matadors family when the bull wins. They may be anti- bull fighting but suffer from the loss. eh, who knows, just thinking....

So, I start a thread on the killing of whales and get laughed out of the room. But when bullfighting comes up, the no-balls, pussy hand-wringers come out of the woodwork. I don't get it, but then, who the fuck cares? Personally, I like bullfighting because it's a sport where the bull has a chance. Matadors get fucked up all the time. And it's ok to cheer for the bull. Plus, the running of the bulls is pure Darwinism at its finest.

And for all this smarmy bullshit about "killing for sport," no problem, but I better not see a fishing rod amongst any of you. Walk like you talk or shut up.

Not that I care what other people do while hunting or why they do it, I think animals are just animals and I'm not the morality police, but the bull doesn't have a decent chance. Yes, once in a great while something will go wrong for the bullfighter but otherwise it's not that dangerous. Otherwise people wouldn't do it. If they were taking out a fresh uninjured enraged cape buffalo or polar bear that was dead set on killing them from the start and they got one plain sharp stick it might be more sporting and show true skill. That's not what happens. The way it is now is just an excuse to see the bull die.

I suppose you didn't take into account that people can fish for more than just sport also, most of the time people can fish and put the fish back without killing it, and for most fishermen that like catching fish it's more about the thrill of reeling it in that it is about the fish dying.

Wow, you just won the award for Making-Shit-Up-As-You-Go. Have you ever watched a bullfight? Or are you just siding with the cool kids? Let me paint the picture for you: There's the bull, and there's a guy with a red cape. According to you, the bull doesn't stand a chance against such overwhelming odds.

You're joking , right? I mean, are you paying any attention at all to what you're typing?

And I understand what you're saying about fishing, but I'm going by what has been posted above. Apparently, we here at FreeOnes abhor the tormenting of animals for sport. Fishing certainly falls into that category. How would you like to be hooked on the mouth and dragged across a pond? Think of the fishys and stop the madness.

And one quick, mild reminder. My original point was that when whaling was brought up, the wise-asses had a field day with it, but with bullfighting, everyone's a fucking saint around here.

No one call it a sport. Or maybe dumbasses do it...
Pro-bullfight says it's a tradition.

Anyway, good riddance, 'cause the truth is it is just animal cruelty.
