Cardboard cutouts slow traffic.

Animated one are pretty common in France, Germany and Switzerland at construction sites.

(I could find any local examples - this is Korea or something, but it's the same except here they wear orange.)

I saw that on the news the other night. Pretty good.

However someone will get in an accident either avoiding the cutout or wondering why the *****/person in the cutout isn't moving, or why it's lying on the ground so still looking.

Calling in the D.C. judge to file the case for them, this could easily be worth $500 million.

I guess this is my "one thing" learned so far today. I had never heard of it myself, but what a great idea.

They sometimes park empty Police cars on the highway median here to slow speeders.

I always thought that might be a better idea than trying to write as many tickets as possible. It's more focused on prevention than trying to get people. Of course usually if they are smart they will put a real officer in it from time to keep people honest.

Around here, they do alot of those digital signs where it says the speed limit and also what your speed is. I see them in lots of different towns all around this area. Never seen it in conjunction with an actual police car with an officer in it.

I have also seen these.

This is amazing yet so simple it works. A man made life size cutouts of ******** and a police officer and the effect was traffic slowing down considerably. Although not the reason for him doing it in the begining, the results were a surprising plus.

I seen this all so on my news LL I think its a good idea to keep those crazy speeders and people on there toes to keep it safe out on the roads.

anything which makes drivers take a bit more care in their attitude and their attention in their driving can only be a good thing :)

That's a great idea too. I think the whole idea is good as long as they can keep it limited to the really bad spots. Overkill may make drivers start ignoring, causing them to ignore real people.

People might start messing with the cars if they think most of them don't have anybody in them to.

I worry about the "Boy who cried wolf " aspect.
It won't be long until idiots who speed in residential areas begin to assume that even real ******** are cardboard cutouts and then there can be a problem.

Am I on your ignore list? :( I agree totally, that's what I said in the above post, just worded a bit different. :)

Maybe neighbors should gather with local police. Tell them of the concerns and have them give a closer watch of that area. One hour before and one after school hours. Voices can only be heard if you speak up. Waiting for the "other" guy to do something never works. If enough get caught and "***** takes the T-Bird away" from enough of them, they'll slow their roll. Riding a bus in high school is worse than going to the prom with your ****** or *******. *shivers*

Fortunately we never had that problem because the police station was right next to the school. :1orglaugh

For some reason they never did anything about all the smokers that used to go out there and smoke during lunchtime.
