& i've just seen a picture, from behind, of one of the guys who's been arrested & he looks like he could be asian

glasgow has the biggest muslim population in scotland ( mostly of pakistani origin)
it also has a history of christian v. christian sectarian violence for well over 100 years and plenty of nutters running around who aren't scared of a bit of ultraviolence

it appears, hopefully, that there have be no / very few injuries
so i just hope that there aren't any problems / riots on the streets tonight

Oh yeah that's really funny. If two Asians crash a car into an airport then we have two billion people to worry about. I don't think that's very funny because that's exactly how muslims are treated today, and exactly how jews were treated in Germany in the 40s. It's not about who you are, but what you look like and where your blood comes from. That's what defines you. Bollocks to that.

I was fucking disaffected too when I had to deal with those skinhead pricks telling me my Dad's country was gonna get bombed, or having my nose broken by a muslim for having a muslim name but not being muslim. I have to agree with this. I've been saying it a long time. Some ask why the US is disliked, and a lot of other places don't like McDonalds and strip malls on every corner, the low quality of entertainment idols, and other big money US cultural stereotypes. How many here are sick of Paris Hilton on TV in lieu of real news? Well, elsewhere it's a more dramatic difference to older cultures.

I am less than an hours drive from Glasgow Airport, in fact was there only a fortnight ago. For alot of scots the war was on tv, across the world, but now its personal!

A lifestyle that is clearly destroying the enviorment and is going to be rapidly unsustainable as more under developed countries as well as the developed ones increase their demand for resources from a diminishing supply IMO.We are addicts and I't won't be pretty when we are not able to get our fixes.

The funny thing about being threatened with a gun in Glasgow by those kids is, their "cause" is probably the catholic versus protestant battles, and they were near Celtic park and I would imagine were catholics. I am very sympathetic to Irish catholics in their plight against the British aggressor, and I don't condone violence but understand why it became that way and feel very bad for the situation. The irony is, those catholic boys (if they were) seemed just as happy to shoot me as they would any protestant, and I of course not being religious but being more sympathetic with the catholics, it's almost like, shooting "one of your own", but they didn't ask questions, they just pretended to pull the trigger, and left.

It's definitely a case of, you forget why you're fighting, and all you know how to do then is fight. It almost doesn't matter who you're killing after awhile. That is exactly how I see the military, of most nations.

China will just see their development / waste / and pollution as simply, "The American Way", as the US wanted them to do this for years. A lot of people, such as WalMart make huge profits in building factories in China.

One side gets burned, and then they don't want to pass laws so the "other side" doesn't get burned. Human nature throughout history is astoundingly thick as a brick. :dunno:

When you put it like that, FOMM, it is very very very hard to argue against that point of view. I had always been in favour of a united Ireland, but when you put it in those terms, it's hard to imagine changing the current lay of the land. What about if Northern Ireland became an independent nation with no official religious affiliation or moral code based on neither religion?

I would even support that the North become part of the south if they would drop those laws.But they have not shown a willingness as yet to do that.And i sorta of understand it they feel they are the majority which they are and should be able to have any laws they like.Its like many of the conflicts of the world no easy answer as both sides have valid concerns and claims.

as for the hype / inside job angle - i hope i'm known by members as not being one to jump onto the "all muslims are bad" bandwagon - i've got loads of previous posts i think would show that
but it looks here, from the pictures and the eyewitness statements, including from one witness, who actually rugby tackled one of the guys who had gotten out of the burning car, that the guys were asian and (one report at least states) were shouting allahu akbar or something similar

so i'm thinking this one, like the 7/7 bombings, appears to be islamically inclined
