Can pets sense human illness / near death conditions ?

This is not news necessarily, it's just an interesting ongoing study.
Do any of you know of any situations where a not overly afectionate ****** had suddenly clinged to an ill or perhaps dying person ?

Can pets sense illness?


A cat has apparently "predicted" the deaths of 25 residents in a nursing home in the US. It seems fanciful but can pets detect illness or even death?
