Hey, it's worth a shot. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? It locks it up, right? :dunno: Well, Windows 7 is probably going to do that no matter what you load it on, so... go for it!

Hell, it might work even better on a C64! :nanner:

I would be surprised if it was possible. The operating system would probaly want more memory then an old 64 has in total. What was a 64's memory about 1 MB? lol

Make sure you download all the requisite SPacks .

64 Kilobytes, hence the name.

that's right.

^^At least 2 GB RAM. Go for 3/4 IMO :)

(MS are saying officially 1GB minimum )

IIRC, the system requirements (min.) for the beta at the time called for:

* 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
* 1 GB of system memory

W7 runs just fine on 256MB. It will gladly take every single bit you can toss at it (I have 8GB on it currently). I really recommend at least 2GB so the cache can do its magic.

Commodore 64s were sweet in their day.

WERE?!

Dude, Commodore 64s are the shiznit.

They are like that cool grandpa I never had that told stories from World War Two where he used the hollowed out skull of a Japanese man he killed with a rock as a bowl.

The C64 owned when it came to video games. The sound chip was impressive for the time. Commando sounded just like the arcade version.

windows 7 is essentially a vista service pack. they hyped it up a lot and are selling it for an assload of money, but it's still just vista.

vista is actually quite good, if you have a system capable of running it smoothly... or if you have the correct version. do a google search for "tinyvista". that runs smoothly on my netbook. going back to XP seems like going into a time machine now.

Yeah, I really see no need to go to Win 7. Vista feels new to me and it's not bad. I guess I'll wait 3 years and get Win 8?

Mac > MSn

Mac > MSn

^^^That's exactly what I'm going to do to solve the Winders dilemma. I need at least two boxes to do what I do. I'll keep at least one of these XP machines functional. But the next new one I get will be a Mac.

IMO, MicroSux is just like the General Motors of the 1960's: shit products that don't half work. But they've got such huge marketshare, people put up with their junk and then try to tweak it on their own. Apple products do cost more. But from the people I know who have them, you don't have to wrench on Macs as often. And I wrench on cars for fun... not computers. So I JUST want something that works. The same reason that people pay more for a Lexus vs. a Chevy Malibu.

Just :2 cents:
