Early reviews do say that the film is visually stunning...but lacking in story. Reminds me a bit, actually, of the early CGI movies that had some cool and new (at the time) effects, but not much of a story. Twister comes to mind. The Abyss was another - though the director's cut did add a lot.
If this catches on, we'll probably see a few others like this and rushed attempts before we see it used successfully, a la LOTR.

Simplified, this is the equivalent of two cameras strapped together, each providing a slightly different perspective on the scene, mimicking the way human eyes view the world in three dimensions.

So.. like pretty much all other 3-D movies?

the entire screen has depth, taking on the appearance of a window through which the viewer is watching a 'world' on the screen, with a distinct foreground and background, rather than a flat, moving painting

So.. like pretty much all other 3-D movies?

In effect, the cinema screen becomes a theatre stage.

So.. like pretty much all other 3-D movies?

Dude, it's a fucking 3-D movie, big whoop. I'll see it, but c'mon let's lose the hype.
