Cameron's 3D could change cinema forever

Simplified, this is the equivalent of two cameras strapped together, each providing a slightly different perspective on the scene, mimicking the way human eyes view the world in three dimensions.

This changes the ballpark of moving images.

If you've had previous experience of 3D, your impression will probably be one of a flattish image with the occasional object 'flying' at you'.

But these advances are different - the entire screen has depth, taking on the appearance of a window through which the viewer is watching a 'world' on the screen, with a distinct foreground and background, rather than a flat, moving painting

In effect, the cinema screen becomes a theatre stage.

NOW I'm pumped about this film! Not because of the story. But holy fuck! I never realized that this was an entirely different type of 3-D experience!!! 3-D for me has always been lack luster. :dunno: nice but never seemed quite right. This, however, sounds to be very fucking cool!

Is it like 4-D? Either way that sounds pretty awesome, for once it might be like a viewer is actually in the movie.

new technology: yay!

having to sit through a james cameron movie that is not "aliens" next to some fat girl named chuck who insists on chewing her $9 popcorn extra loudly and laughs at every little joke as if it were the greatest thing she ever heard because she might be slightly retarded: nay.

so i'm not gonna watch it. if the tech is really as great as they say, then in the near future someone will make a good movie with it. i'll watch that.

In the rush to create this new technology and spend all this money -- did they forget about the story?

Will this be nothing more than just another exercise in Special EFX?

3D is getting me back in the cinema. At one point I stopped going to the cinema because I could either get films online or I would just go watch the ''blockbusters'' of the summer etc...I really enjoy the 3D cinematic experience though. The American animation films have been really enjoyable by adding 3D. I personally am really looking forward to Avatar.

Thanks :hatsoff:

After seeing the trailer when they released it I'm not interested in Avatar. Some parts looked great with CGI looking very real while the rest looked so obviously fake and terrible. They should have either done the whole movie animated or live action.

I would like to see it, but am not eager for the 'usual' war storyline. Why must a story revolve around fighting? He could have gone in a different direction than that. Look at 'Stargate Universe' for instance. So far the only battle was the one in the beginning. They have made it to 10 episodes without one space war. In my book, they can now have one if they want just because of that.

It started to look so awesome with the two genetically enhanced beings kissing in the trailer, then, wham, it starts.

I'd like to see what all the hype is about. I don't know that I'll go watch it in a theater, but I'll at least watch it when it comes out on video. The drawback to that is that I won't get the full THX sound, or the huge screen experience on my 22" screen.

yay, we get to see crappy fake looking CG in 3D!

<---- Does not give a fuck about 3D. Likes film being just that, FILM.

The only thing I noticed about the trailer itself was the less than half a second of blue boob wobble in one of the trailers. What can I say, I haven't had a computer in a couple of days .... my sleeze - O - meter is off the charts at the minute.

Anyway, fuck David Cameron!

I don't get all the hype either. I'm just saying the 3D thing sounds sweet. I guess there will be a good story to go along with it. I doubt it, I wanna see how the 3D thing works out!

As for "shitty" CGI. Video games will be made using CGI in the not to distant future. So get used to it! Thats something else for me to be excited about!

Yay for 3D! NOT!
Another shitty Hollywood gimmick. Its just another way for them to make more £ off us & combat the rise in high tech home cinema set ups. An attempt to offer the public something they can't get at home just like in the old days when cinemascope was introduced. The only difference being 3D is pointless. I have never ever ever watched a movie & thought, "this is great, but it would be even greater in 3D".

Note to Hollywood, just make better films not the same old crap in 3D!!

video games have always been made using CGI. :dunno: Or did I miss all those video games that were live action film or cell animation?
