Since people can still buy fish I hope somebody goes out and buys a large shark to keep in their gigantic back yard pool. The shark could even help with the problem of killing those animals people don't want or can't take care of anymore so the community could buy pets again.

Why have fish acceptable then? They are living creatures that require care and responsibility. People are just as likely to not know how to properly care for them as a mammal, especially due to the assumption that fish don't require care because they do.

Fish don't overpopulate the streets, like the stray cats, dogs, any just about any other animal they sell. It's not a bad idea, the pet selling industry is pretty unregulated, and the amount of animals from the industry that are put down within a year, especially in SF is atrocious.
