This thread is NOT about Clinton, JFK, LBJ, Truman or any other president. Please refer to the innumerable threads on the subject of Clinton v. Bush for continued commentary in that direction. This thread was put up to point out that, according to the source identified, George W. Bush thinks his greatest accomplishment as president was to catch a fish. Anyone who wants to debate that, go ahead.

By the way, the fish was not a perch as identified in the German periodical, but was instead a large-mouth bass (and that's a damned big bass I must admit). I don't blame Dubya for being proud of that!

Well, at least the UK's financial backbone is trashed along with ours. That's why Blair doesn't really have a choice in what he does. The US Federal Reserve, a private corporation, is largely controlled by UK owned interests. But that's another, long story.

The United States has always been, and will always continued to be, the greatest collection of shit no other country wanted. The United States has far more diversity than any other nation on the Earth, and that's the main reason we are so widely misunderstood. My fellow Americans -- many never born in this country -- and I get a big kick out of this. We enjoy reading various foreign papers we find via Google News.

Our media is the most bigoted, racist and sexist entity. So it doesn't surprise me that actors and actresses then take the stances they do. All the meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of Americans laugh at their collective ignorance and proliferation of it. And if I wasn't an American, I'd think poorly of Americans based on our arrogant media.

America will always survive on its will -- and that's largely based on the influx of the world's alleged "worst," who really make this country the greatest in the longer-term (and even shorter-term). For once I'd like people to step back and realize where America's "power" comes from. Because we've heard all the theories on how we are "fat'n lazy" from well before WWII as well.

Take a look at Spain. Or Britain. Once the most powerful countries in the world. And now? Now they're not so, and actually consider participating with the rest of the world (and lacking mentioned power, obligated to do so).

In my not-so-kind way, I meant to say I can't wait for the day the US follows the same route (an 'I dont care what you think' Texan in charge of the world's most powerful country is kind of like a Texan in a Hummer on a freeway full of compacts - a bad idea).

Yes I know that I am a very atypical Frenchman :yesyes: I am one of the strongest defenders of U.S.A in this forum despite not being American but not without reasons.A part of my family lives in the U.S.A and I also know some American people which are long time buddies and some of them are living in France.

Actually the UK and Spain are two of our closest allies. They have disagreed with much of the rest of the world and supported us as of late.

Honestly, I think the self-interest in the UN has to end. It's the whole reason why Iraq didn't disclose its WMDs in the '90s. Because the French, Germans and Russians were bought off in '95, then looked liked asses in '96.

You blame the US for so many things, yet I look around and I see self-interest move after self-interest move from "old Europe."

Communism was an utopia as is socialism. OK people had a little something to eat or a small house where to live but they were never entitled to have their opinion especially when they disagreed with their political leader at that time which was Stalin (which means in Russian the man of steel). The communism of the post Stalin era didn't allow as well people to have a better standrad of living. I will however recognize that it is thanks USSR that Hitler was defeated but it is also thanks to American, Canadian and English soldiers that the Western european countries were freed.
