Bruno: possibly one of the worst movies of time

Die For Me
All of his characters have had a movie now, so I guess thats a plus if you dont like his stuff. He probably wont have any more, at least for a while

(Caveat. I have not seen it yet. Juvenile? Most probably. But I actually find the American Pie series of movies juvenile and definitely not funny).

The Bruno movie looks like exactly the same format as Borat just with a different character. Borat was a good movie but I'm not that bothered about this one. Sacha Baron Cohen has been doing Ali G & co for about a decade now, I wish he would try something new!

Well after Da Ali G movie and Borat, he said he was retiring both characters, so you probably won't have to worry about them anytime soon.

I think the problem is he's only got one joke, stereotypical character interviews people & exposes their stupidity/prejudices. It was funny for a while, but boring now.

I really enjoy the fact that he can point out minute hypocrisies in different cultures. I just wonder if most people can actually see that deeply.

ya know, I actually think this movie is a big win for the gay community. Satire or not, the stuff in this movie could not have been shown in theaters all over the country 20 years ago, so I think it's an accomplishement in breaking down the double-standard of a male sexuality on film.

and I don't really want to give it away... that means Spoiler...

a talking penis is fucking brilliant.

Now I enjoyed Borat which is why I went to see Bruno but Bruno just plainly was not funny or entertaining in the least bit. Take this as a warning to any1 wanting to see it. DO NOT. you'll end up wasting your time and money.
I thought Borat to be good and funny, nothing more nothing less, but BRUNO is downright hilarious. This is in-your-face comedy to the extreme. More than one time he's in serious danger of getting hurt by people who are full of hatred and he just shows and exploits that. I wouldn't care if he really got beat up one time, because he's basically just asking for it, but the whole process of getting there and enraging people is...hilarious. And his talk show stint with the baby named OJ is just the tip of the iceberg.

Unless loveakirayui, who obsviously thinks his taste speaks for the rest of the world too, I don't wanna make a general assessment, but I think if you weren't too excited about Borat, like me, but you like Cohen's work in general, you might enjoy Bruno so much more.

E.g. that slavic accent of Borat was really pushing my buttons after a few minutes, and maybe that didn't let me enjoy Borat as much as I might have otherwise, but as I said, here with Bruno, he takes the whole pissing off people to a whole new extreme. And his German accent is just hilarious (my native tongue is German) and isn't exruciating at all unlike the slavic accent he had as Borat.

I laughed a lot watching this movie, laughed really hard, sometimes you wanted to look away because even as a spectator it's embarrassing, but in the end you have to watch it because it's just too hilarious.

All that being said I think Cohen should bury this whole concept because I don't think you can top it off, but who I am to say.

'Bruno' tops the box office with $14.2 mil on Friday.

Seems to be a personal opinion.

Sacha Baron Cohen is hilarious.

The majority dont always know what's good though.

The only thing IMO that Cohen has done that is brilliant is Ali G. I'd love to see Ali G in a zombie movie.

His act has been tired since the Madonna video. I wish Mr. Cohen would simply go away as he has to of made enough money to live the rest of his mortal years. I will give that the early Ali G HBO show was pretty funny(especially his interview with former General Brent Scowcroft). Did not see Borat and will not see this one either.

Let me be honest with you. Hollywood is controlled by the Jews but most Jews stay away from their true identity, religion and even changed their names.

I have no beef with Bruno or his real name Sasha Baron Cohen. But he tried to cause "shock" to get attention !

I previously stated I enjoyed Borat which was why I went to see Bruno. But Bruno had a completely different feel to it. Bruno seems too scripted for my liking. I felt the reaction of people in the movie from Borat was genuine emotions, whereas the reactions of the people in Bruno seemed completely fake. Bruno feels like it was mostly hired actors to act dumb whereas Borat was real people that are dumb caught on camera. Most of the funny parts were also shown in the trailers. I'm surprised there are some people here who liked it cause it seems the consensus of the people leaving the theater was that Bruno was a failure. I went on a opening weekend on Saturday night in a usually packed theater and to my surprise I bought tickets for Bruno 10 minutes before the show started and there was a good 1/4 of seats empty. I guess word got out on Friday that Bruno did not live up to Borat. I guess for those like me who wants to see it thinking that it'll be similar style to the LOL riot of Borat will be disappointed.

all my friends are saying its amazing, but tbh i just dont wanna see this for some reason i dunno why.

Why would anyone expect it to be in any other kind of format? It worked with Borat and with Bruno, both hilarious, and if you've seen the show, all three characters pretty much did the same thing (going around and interviewing people). Ali G was the only one that tried an actual, non-mockumentary, movie and it was pretty bad. I think they should try to do Ali G again but only in the same way as the other two.

I enjoyed Borat -- some of it for the shock value. I really liked Ali G Indahouse. Most people I talk to have seen Borat, but not many have seen Ali G Indahouse. I'll wait till Bruno comes out on DVD.

I liked borat, Ali G and Jean Girard (from Talladega nigts: the ballad of ricky bobby)

Not to impressed with what I've seen of Brüno.
