I was about to come on here and call out the Obama administration for overreacting (or, more accurately, allowing the FBI - and possibly Secret Service - to overreact), but then, if you read further into the story it appears that the boy used a lot of threatening language.
So, I suppose this would be a sort of standard response if a foreign someone sends a threatening e-mail to the POTUS. Perhaps an overreaction, but not a terribly important one.

The kid is saying he can't remember much of what he wrote but I can only assume he used threatening and maybe racist language which might explain the ban and maybe they took it no further (ie charging him) as they accepted he was drunk at the time he wrote it. Unfortunately the country is full of 'kids' like this, the future looks bleak.
