Actually, I have more respect for him now. I've never liked this Pope, he was an insensitive and poor choice, in my opinion. However, recognizing that he is unable to keep up with the needs of the church he is supposed to lead and stepping down is the right thing for him to do. This is good news for Roman Catholics everywhere, I hope they can recognize that.

While I sincerely hope the next Pope they have is similar to John Paul II in scope and vision, if the next Pope is not from South America or Africa, there's something very, very wrong.

I'm not saying there aren't intelligent people among the religious people. It's just dumb to believe in god and things like that. Most if not all religions are just nonsense and moneymaking businesses. It's just ridiculous how much influence religion still has in today's society.

Religious or not, don't discount the contributions that religion has made in government, in laws, in just about every facet of life. I don't care if you don't believe, but think historically. Of course religion still has an influence, it shaped today's society. Also, telling people it's dumb to believe in god? Bullshit.
