Boris Johnson the next Prime Minister of the UK

How has it come to this that the buffoon that Boris Johnson is on the verge of becoming the UK's chief executive? The only people that support him are those who are after a job with him in his government and his party members, most of whom are the same as him but older. Unfortunately they are the only ones that get a vote in the election; 150K get to decide who leads 65 Million. And they call it the Mother of Democracy! Mother of all cock ups more like!

I have never heard ANYONE call the UK "The Mother of Democracy." Ever.

Really? That's most interesting? What about reading that expression? It is a colonial thing I would think. I remember my employees from the sun-continent using the expression orally but it might not have reached your neck of the woods being used in this sense. If I have time I'll try and conduct a sense map using Google to see where the expression is used and to which nation states it references.

Can I quote you if I write about this?

Well not had time to do anything in detail but Britain, USA, France and Greece all come up for different reasons. It certainly depends on where you live and I guess when you consider democracy was born and what you consider it to be. However, none of it changes the fact that another country is about to get a buffoon as a leader. With any luck he will have a term in office shorter than Canning.

I am german, from just across the channel, and, to be frank:

I cannot remember that phrase being used about the UK, too.

I always connect that with Greece.

But thank you for the video, and your board input, I only hear and read things fellow germans or other non-brits say, and I am thrilled to get your perspective. I admit, if I would live in the UK, I would go up the walls over these whole procedings

Thanks. It is a nightmare but while it has still not happened we can live in hope. The fact that we are not fully in the EU is lost on many. We don't have the Euro, we are not in Schengen and we get a massive chunk of the money back in the form of a rebate. Hopefully the problem of the Irish border, which was never mentioned by the Brexit people in 2016 might bring it to a halt.
