Not to mention the fact that Griffey played in an all out manner, crashing into walls, climbing walls etc... which is something that Rodriguez won't really have to worry about.
But on the note of tonight, I was actually there, (only because my best friend is a Giants fan), and I was absolutely blown away when Hank Aaron showed up on the jumbotron. Always a class act. He and the Babe will always be two of the classiest players ever.
So now who are we supposed to ****? I say Henry Blanco!
How about hating the Cubs TV and radio broadcast teams. They are fucking horrible!![]()

That's what helps make the Cubs, THE CUBS.
Dude, Len and Bob are quite entertaining. Pat Hughes is like the best around. Santo....not a fan. The White Sox crew is worst though! Holy crap! What a bunch of snooze artists! :*****:
I agree with that. I'm a Sox fan (and a Cubs fan, easy, eaaaaasy) and it's hard for me to watch the games on TV. The only entertaining thing that comes out of their announcing crew is "HE GONE!!!".

Bob Brenly(spelling?) is pretty good but Len Casper is WAY too exitable.Hughes play by play is good but I **** his voice and Santo...Well what can you say?It really doesn't get any worse than him.
On the other side of town...Hawk and DJ are good. They are like a couple of guys hangin' out talking about baseball.I like those two.Now Farmer and Singleton are a different story.I kind of like Singleton but Farmer is absolutly horrible and I hope they get rid of him by the time next season rolls around.
Earlier this season,Steve Stone(of all people) sat in for Farmer and he and Singleton were really good.Stone was calling the game with Hawk last night, but I hope that Stone becomes the permenant replacement for Ed Farmer.
The first year of Bob and Len was really unlistenable, but over time, I think they have really started to mesh well. Pat Hughes is the **** for me. One reason why this guy is so good, is cause he has to deal with Santo in the booth. I love Santo, but sometimes...he doesn't even know if he's on the air.
The Sox radio guys, yeah, terrible. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about the tv crews. To me, DJ and Hawk are sooo boring.
And I don't want to talk about Stoney. I am STILL pissed at the Tribune for letting him go.![]()
Cubs, Sox, Cubs, Sox...wait what was this thread about?
I got me the Len Kasper and Hawk impressions down pat. And let me tell ya, that Len Kasper voice is harder to imitate than you think. Too bad I can't do it here. :weeping:
Interesting side note:
I just got done watching Mythbusters and they did a bunch of "baseball myths". Well, a corked bat actually makes it HARDER to hit HR's. Chew on that for a while.
Also, humid baseballs travel about 14% shorter of a distance than dry baseballs do. I thought that was pretty interesting.

There have been many studies about the effects of corked bats and all of them pretty much state that the advantage is small. You can swing it faster but it's also lighter so the ***** of the impact isn't as great and they more or less cancel each other out. I think it's estimated that with a corked bat you might be able to get an extra 10 feet out of a ball that is normally hit around 400 at best. Once in a while that might help you, but not often.
Now a bat that has a substance in it like bouncy balls are a whole different story. You can get a big advantage out of those, which is why some players have been caught with them falling out of there bat in the past when it broke. :1orglaugh
