Best Song Intro?

Alot of great songs and song intros there. I still love the short opening intro of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper." And yes I am going to get flak for it, but Queens "Flash Gordon" is a good intro as well

Flak? Flash is pure epic cheese.

As for maiden the clansman for me personally

PS> The trooper is epic song but its fast.....Crimean war damn it took stones to charge cannons on horseback.

The intro is actually an excerpt of Terry Riley's Octet. On a side note, one of my private guitar teachers in college was Terry Riley's ***, so that's my connection to The Who. That, or the time I ran them over when they were walking off the stage. :1orglaugh :o
Nightwish - The Poet And The Pendulum

Straight up epic, if you ask me.

Fuck yeah! Nightwish! You know what's scary? I can actually sing along with the first part, The White Lands of Empathica, which is actually the first movement of the song-like suite.

"We, the nocturnal few
bound by other laws
to the service of the enemies of god
are silent and hidden
yet our exquisite fire burns on
poised to engulf
..."

I would say it easily belong to "stairway to heaven." I could listen to the beginning of that song for the rest of my life. Also honorable to "let it be" ,"lost for words," and "nothing else matters."
