Best/scariest zombie movies?

I'm never really scared by movies especially zombie ones but i feel like watching one anyway.

Preferably from the past decade, what are the best ones in your opinion?

When I saw the Dawn of the Dead remake in theaters the day it came out I remember flinching countless times, best remake of any horror I ever saw, maybe best remake period!

The Dead.

It's a zombie movie set in Africa. It's about two guys who meet in the middle of a zombie outbreak and they decide to head north to try and find a way out of the country. It states in the movie why one of them wants to go north, but you will need to watch it to find it why that is. Think of I Am Legend (the book) and replace the vampires with zombies and you have THE DEAD. Oh yes and before I forget the zombies are old school style. Lucio Fulci would have tears in his eyes if he was still alive and saw this movie.

The Dead 9.5/10

When Hollywood fucks it up with the running zombie shit, look to the independent circuit for how it should be done. The Dead is pure old school in it's style of content, the tension, atmosphere, the lot!. It's the best zombie movie of the past ten years.

Try [REC] if you want a scarier zombie movie. It's shot in first-person perspective but it's done well. Spanish Language w/English subs.

Not to start an argument or anything pal but the REC series is not a zombie series. Demonic possession is the name of the game in REC and REC 2. And it will be the same in REC 3 and REC 4 when they come out.

PS
The same goes for the "28" series. They are humans infected with a rage virus, they are not zombies and never will be. People can call them zombies all they like. But it's wrong, it's not a matter of opinion, it's wrong. Kind of like those who call "The Monster" Baron Frankenstein created as "Frankenstein" when it doesn't have a name. Same goes for "The Infected" in the 28 series. They are killers driven by a pure undiluted rage. Zombies can't drown or die from bullets to the chest or from chemical gas clouds. The Infected in the 28 series do though because they are just humans.

A thirteen part animated series called "Zombie Loan" it's Japanese so it's subtitled. But it's ok I suppose. It has a couple of funny moments during it's duration.

I liked 28 Days Later myself. Didn't care much for the second one for numerous reasons.

i just finished watching it. pretty awesome stuff.

its a shame there prolly wont be a second season. maybe an OAV though. who knows.

There is an OVA, it's called Drifters of the dead. It's like 5 times as ecchi as the rest of the series

Zombie land is great - it’s not doing the action/horer but action/comedy. It’s not making the zombies the punch line, just in the way the characters interact with each other that makes it great.

Season 2 of the Walking Dead is now on. You can watch season 1 on Netflix.

There is also an anime called High Scholl of the Dead which is really good… if you’re a guy

Not to worry. I'm a geek but not a pissy geek. You are correct. It was revealed in the sequel that it was demonic possession.

Do you have a link to this "The Dead"? If the DVD is available I might want to order it from Amazon. Thank you.

I liked 28 Days Later myself.

Agreed. That was a great movie.

There are a lot of good ones. Watching the old "Night of the Living Dead" is fun. "Dawn of the Dead" is fun.

"Shaun of the Dead" was hilarious.

What I am is just intollerant to incorrect statements about horror movies held by the masses. Knowing a little about what you are talking about doesn't make you a geek. You only get called a geek by the unknowledgeable who have been called out on their mistakes. Such actions as mislabeling reminds me of the people that call the monster Frankenstein when that was the name of the creator. The monster had no name. And those same types of people shout "zombie!" every time a killer appears that has been infected with something that makes them go on a murder rampage. It just gets infuriating from time to time depending on how I feel at the time of reading it through the sheer volume of incorrect labeling of the killers in the movies in question.

The Dead is available on Amazon to buy and in Asda and Morrisons.

It makes a change from the run of the mill Hollywood crap we've been getting for a while. Shame the sequel went the way it did though. Oh well it just enforces the sheer awesomeness of the first one.
