I just watched the first one (again) and all I can say is it was kind of stupid. It's not like, a scary film as much as it kind of makes you queezy. I don't know, sort of like watching PETA-produced animal abused films - it's just kind of a little nauseating. That said, I might flip through the others if they are on some time when I watching the tube, but wouldn't go out of my way to watch the stuff. Time would be better spent reading a book on US history or politics or something.
BTW, what have these movies grossed? Didn't Cary Elwes sue over the first one for royalties or something?

Well take it from a hardcore horror movie fan. they start to go back uphill after 2. 5 is the second best in the series in my opinion. They actually start to focus on the police investigations on who Jigsaw's accomplices are. It goes into a more suspense style than 2 was (2 was straight torture porn).
But 1 was by far the best and it was one of the greatest movies, horror or otherwise, ever.
Can't touch Night of the Living Dead though

I have seen every one,and own all but number 6 and I've come to realize that think the first one is the best,aren't fans of the series at all.That's ok,and everyone is entitled to their opinion,but it's hands down the worst of the series.
My personal favorite it probably 4,but I really love the ending of 2.I like all of them after the first one.
For all of the critics of these movies that just call it "torture porn",have no idea of the interweaving storyline that the filmmakers have crafted in this series.There isn't any other horror franchise that has had the "smarts" to be able to do it as well as they have in this series.

I actually had given up on the series after part 1 (which I saw at the theatre), but then my friend and his wife told me they thought part 2 was better (which I rented because I didn't see it in the theatre after giving up on part 1) and I've liked the series ever since.
