Best place to buy computers

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a computer as a christmas gift, I usually go through tigerdirect, but does anyone know of a cheaper or better place to buy computers? Thanks.

Well, it would be helpful to know in which country you live, and in which province/state you live. Stores vary by location. Or maybe you were asking about buying online only...

Tigerdirect is great. I subscribe to the magazine. You should stick with that unless you just wanta cheap computer from Wal-Mart. I call those Wal-Mart specials.

Thanks guys, I'm in the USA and yeah, I meant online because the biggest selection is online, tigerdirect has some pretty good deals on refurbished systems. When I get a new laptop I think I'm going to get an Averatec. Over the next 5 years I think they will become a major force to be reckoned with for companies like Dell and Gateway. Remember that so you can buy low.

Be wary of Averatec. Their customer service is deplorable. I've had one their notebooks for over a year now, and the service is so bad, I actually filed a complaint with the BBB.
:2 cents:

Hi blutter, in all honesty mate I would not go to a store to get a computer built. If i could then i would do one myself but as i am not confident enough to do so (as you would be) then i suggest looking around for a mate that would be able to get you one.. That's how i got mine!!
Pent 3.4
1GB 440 Ram
200gb Hd (split into 2x100GB)
Radeon X800XT GFX Card
Monitor, KB + Mouse, Xp pro and office

£1,300 or $2,500

the guy who built it only made £12 out of the whole thing!!!!! (but bought him some beers to make it up) had the system about 3 months and had 1 prob which he solved in about 10 mins!!!

Good luck anyway.
The Married

Thanks for the advice, I've thought about just building one, but the Christmas deals are just a lot easier, and cheaper. It sounds like you've got a pretty damned fascinating system married, I wish I had an entire gig of 440! ram!

While we are on topic... Has anyone ever bought anything as expensive as a computer from another country (while being in the US.)

The only thing Ive ever gotten from another country is like video games ordered over E-Bay.
