To be honest I haven't listened to a lot of Iron Maiden but I voted for "number of the beast", because that's the one most Maiden fans seem to think is the best. At least that's what I heard once.

Hard choice, I'm a HUGE Maiden fan...but I seem to listen to Piece Of Mind more than others. BTW, I know I'm in a minority here, but I think X Factor is way underrated.

The original "Iron Maiden".

Was quite the revolution when it was released. :)

persona non grata
The first one, it had a bit of punk rock feel to it which i like a whole lot better than the typical metal on their later albums.

Brave New World. One of my fav CD's of all time. I wasn't keen on Maiden before Dickinson and that other guy who took over vocal duties in the mid-90's was pretty damn good too, although I can't recall his name.

I'd put IM as the 2nd best Metal band ever, Black Sabbath is always no 1.

believe me, most maiden fans do not think beast is their best.

'Tis is a very tough choice...my favourite Maiden album is The Number of The Beast.

I chose Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son

But in honesty,I can`t really decide between Iron Maiden,Number Of The Beast,Peace of Mind,Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son and Fear Of The Dark. They`re all great albums that I used to listen very much. And I like their other stuff up until mid-late 90`s also very much, but these mentioned here I just like even more.

Someone said X-Factor is underrated album and I agree with that.I think if it didn`t say "Iron Maiden" on the cover it would be much more appreciated. It got such a hostile reception just because people didn`t like the thought of Maiden without Bruce.

youre right. its because bruce wasnt there. but its also because blaze tried to mimic bruce. i even passed on a blaze maiden concert because i didnt want my first maiden show to be with a bruce wannabe. the only time i will listen to blaze is when i let best of the beast play all the way through. i dont like blaze. i dont like paul. to me, maiden isnt maiden without bruce. :2 cents:

A Matter of Life and Death.

Excellent lyrics and rifts and beats that I felt surpassed Maiden's previous albums.

See, I'm not sure I agree.

I agree that Paul was no Bruce - but to accept the notion that "There is no Iron Maiden without Bruce" would seem to accept the notion that songs such as "Phantom of the Opera" are 'non-maiden' because Bruce wasn't around then.

Reminds me of the whole Syd Barret/Roger Waters/Pink Floyd thing :)

Me? There are many songs sung by Bruce that I love. And there are songs by Paul that I love. Both Paul and Bruce have done mediocre to "horrid" songs.

Iron Maiden for me has been an evolving journey - and I've loved every minute of it! And I would really love to place a good chunk of the credit to the bassist - Steve Harris.... he is THE pioneer and THE guiding light; IMHO.

cheers,

when bruce sings songs from the first two albums, he makes those songs his. bruce is able to (at least for me) bring more of the song out than paul was capable of. one of my life wishes is for maiden to re-release iron maiden and killers with bruce singing. :)
