Best/favorite films of 2007

I think now's a good time to start the year-end lists. :) I didn't go to the cinema a whole lot this year and missed out on some stuff that looked very good (thank you for existing, DVD), but here's a list of the stuff released this year that I liked very, very much.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. It was a trippy pirate epic. Also, any film that has a monkey decimating Singapore in the first twenty minutes has my approval.

The Brave One. Kind of forgettable, but it was a good film. Everyone involved did quality work, and the psycho-drama towards the end is very satisfying.

Knocked Up. A smart "dumb guy" film...with heart.

Grindhouse. The most enjoyable time I had at the movies this year. "If you hire Machete to kill the bad guys...make sure you're not the bad guys."

And of course, The Simpsons Movie. I enjoyed it, but mostly, I'm just glad it finally exists.

Stuff that would probably be on this list if I had seen it:
Juno (coming near me this Friday!)
I'm Not There (coming nowhere near me, ever!)
3:10 To Yuma
Rescue Dawn
The Lookout
Sunshine
Rendition
Fido
28 Weeks Later

This has been one of the worst years for film...imo. I've seen a lot of stuff but nothing I'd put on a Best of list. I have high hopes for "I Am Legend" though...and "Atonement" might be great.

"3:10 to Yuma" might be the best film I've seen thus far...

Personally I thought Pirates was god awful, but to each their own.

I havent seen alot of movies so far. Here are my favs:

Transformers: Not exactly Oscar winning material, but it was everything I wanted in a movie about giant robots destroying one another.

Superbad: Just hilarious.

Hot Fuzz: Funny and badass at the same time.

Yep, looks like I need to start watching the more serious movies of 2007. lol.

Im looking foward to I Am Legend, too.

I think the best movies of this year are:

300
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Transformers
The Bourne Ultimatum

I'm going to see I Am Legend and AVP 2 to round out the year.

Pirates was one of the most boring movies I've seen in a long time.

No Country for Old Men was probably the best movie I saw.

Patrick_S

persona non grata
Inland Empire
Gwoemul (The Host)
Severance
Sherrybaby

The 3rd Bourne was not as good as the previous 2. I still like the first one a lot.

American Gangster was an overhyped mess. Crowe/Denzel had about 2 brief scenes together at the very end. This was not exactly a "matching wits" kind of movie.
