Best Cover Versions

Re: Your favorite cover songs

Another good one, is from the tribute album to Warren Zevon, called "Enjoy Every Sandwich". Jackson Browne, and Bonnie Raite do a cover of "Poor Poor Pitiful Me".

Re: Your favorite cover songs

PM Dawn did a version of Got Me Floatin' and Body Count did a version of Hey Joe on an old Hendrix tribute album that both impressed me.

Re: Your favorite cover songs

The saddest song ever: Gary Jules' cover of "Mad World" originally by Tears for Fears

Re: Your favorite cover songs

oh yeah happy. that is one of the best covers ever.
good song made great.
cool video too.

Yeah, great song. Always forget it's a cover though. Only reason it occurred to me was that I was listening to my digital copy and the infobar will occasionally display "(tears for fears cover)". That made me think of this thread so I youtube'd it then tossed it up.

Some songs from Anthrax's cover e.p., "Anthems".
I was pretty damn impressed by the way their sound can change from one song to another.

"Anthem" (Rush cover)
I almost didn't even recognize Joey's voice on this one. Very high-pitched, like Geddy Lee in the early days.

"TNT" (AC/DC cover...as if you didn't know)

"Smokin" (Boston cover)
Gotta love the cover art for the single. Compare to Boston's debut album.
