Best Cover Versions

Best cover version... Peter Green's song "Black Magic Woman" ...

Carlos Santana, Santana, "Black Magic Woman" Abraxis album ... Gregg Rolie singing...

Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac, "Black Magic Woman" English Rose album ... Peter singing...

And both Carlos and Peter playing together at the Rock & Roll induction ceremonies Waldorf Astorria - January 1998 - when Santana and Fleetwood Mac were both inducted. :)

Iron Maiden - Cross-Eyed Mary (Jethro Tull cover)

Nightwish-Over The Hills And Far Away (Gary Moore cover)

How about single instrument covers not made by official bands but talented hobbyists? Would that be okay in this thread or should I start a new one for it?

Blackmore's Night - Diamonds And Rust (Joan Baez cover)

Blind Guardian - To France (Mike Oldfield cover)

Simon and Garfunkel - Sound of Silence

Nevermore - Sound of Silence

I like this cover cause they are not re-playing it but made it their own and just kept the words. A cover as covers should be IMO

You sir are a fucking legend! This is by far one of my fav all time covers (and metal bands too) for the same reason! The start reminds me of the original but thats where the similarities end....Plus the lyrics sound more like they were written for metal than folk rock which is the reason they covered it. Nevermore kick arse.

Warrel Dane - Lucretia My Reflection (****** of mercy cover)

Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage (soundgarden cover)

Chris Cornell - Billie Jean (Michael Jackson cover)

A perfect circle - Imagine (john lennon cover)

Sanctuary - White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane cover)

some others I like are
the ramones - 'what a wonderful world' and 'have you ever seen the rain'
soundgarden - 'come together' and 'girl you want'

Judas Priest - Better By You, Better Than Me (Spooky Tooth cover)

Saxon - Ride Like The Wind (Christopher Cross cover)
