Best Cover Versions

slayers version of "Inagaddadivida" is pretty good...metalicas version of queens "Stone Cold Crazy" works for me as well.....

Great thread!

I agree that Ra's version of "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" is mighty cool.

Though I might have to track down and throttle the person who approved of No Doubt's "It's My Life."

Suprised that no one mentioned Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" originally done by Gloria Jones...or Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll" (orginally done by The Arrows).

Here's a few to check out:

311's cover of The Cure's "Love Song" - maybe even better than the original?!?

And, though I hated these whiney hair metal cheesedicks, this rocked: White Lions covering Golden Earring's "Radar Love." Sweet shuffle beat, great drum solo AND some of the best guitar of that era!

You might like this one, too. Everything But The Girl's cover of "Time After Time."

Try this one on for size...If you love "trip hop" acid jazz and The Clash:

Lastly, I'm probably going to get a lot of crap for this one, Cat Power's version of Blondie's "Hanging On The Telephone." She never released it but did it for a commercial...

White Stripes - Death Letter (originally by *** House) (Also, this song was amazing when I saw it live, Jack White usually does an extended guitar solo that will blow your mind)

White Stripes - St. James Infirmary Blues (it actually is an old song where its true origins aren't exactly known but Louis Armstrong's version is best known)

I listened to The Sundays' Version of 'Wild Horses'. Compare to Susan Boyles take on that song:

The Sundays' singer is holding back herseöf far too much. Susan is really good.

Here are a couple of Cover Versions all in one song:

Sammy Davis Jr. sings 'Because of You'

Forget Michael Jackson, Sammy was the best!!!

John Cale - Heartbreak Hotel.
Both rock, solo piano and electronica versions.

Janis Joplin - Ball & Chain.

APC playing Diary of a Love Song. Which is a mashup of the Cure's Lovesong, and Ozzy's Diary of a Madman.

Amazing. I posted this earlier on the "what are you listening to right now" thread. But it deserves another mention here because it is, well, just amazing.

The Foo Fighters and Serj of SOAD performing Holiday in Cambodia, originally done by the Dead Kennedy's

Totally epic. With an absolutely shitty crowd. Bet you half of them have never even heard of the Dead Kennedy's. Look at their faces. They have no idea what song that is, or how awesome their performance of it was. Serj kinda looks like he's not singing to them, but AT them. Pollllll-POT!

Rise Against covering Making Christmas from the movie the Nightmare Before Christmas.

From the Nightmare Revisited album. Pretty fucking cool, huh? :D Rise Against is so bad ass.
