i still remember when they had two different websites (one regular site with low prices, and one identical-looking one in the stores that had higher prices) and when future shop (owned by best buy) tried to sell people a warranty against burn-in... on LCD screens. fucking assholes. i hope their company goes bankrupt.

Best Buy can :blowjob: me. Seriously. It's a corporate monster now. It was great when it was still a contender, but now that it's the "champ", it's become "let's rape as many consumers as possible. Oh and fuck our own employee's too." They don't even TRY to hide it anymore....

I hate Best Buy with the passion of 1,000 burning suns.

When I bought my computer from them they tried to sucker me into buying their bullshit optimization plan. When I called them on it being shit that I could do on my own in an hour at home, they tried to make it sound like it was some high-tech rocket surgery that they had to perform. Fucking felchbags. :thefinger

That's what they do!! My brother and I build/repair computers (we don't have a store or anything) and it's just INSANE what Geek Squad/Best Buy does to customers. Did you know that you don't even have to go to school to become a member of Geek Squad?? It's "recommended" but not required. Any schlep can walk in and BS their way into a job there...

So what my brother and I do is we like to go in and fuck with them. :D One time we did something as simple as unplugging the power supply from the motherboard and watched this idiot say that we had "uhhh a cracked motherboard, a blown um hard drive, or uhhh a bad video card.":facepalm::facepalm::wtf::wtf:

I can go on all day with stories like this (or how we used the store "item locator" computer to hack into Geek Squad's computer and porn bomb them, LMAO :1orglaugh: ...bitches...).

I've never heard of these Best Buy stores but I'm sure they are assholes for the simple reason that they are capitalists, and everyone knows that capitalists are bastards.
God bless Lenin.

A few years ago I received terrible customer service so I haven't shopped there ever since

But why is the OP writing about american shops when he is apparently German?
i live in canada, and we have best buy/future shop stores here, too. they were never the 'best buy' by the way; their prices are always a lot higher than at other stores. and yes, the geek squad is a fucking joke... i'd like to say that any monkey could work there, but the monkey is probably overqualified for that position.

If someone is stupid enough to be talked into buying something they do not study up on or look into before purchase they deserve to get ripped off. That's the point of a salesman. Whether it be cars, houses, appliances, those stupid infomercials, or even a regular store. The point of a salesman is to make a sale.

I never understood the hatred behind big companies despite it seems everybody always shops there. GameStop is another place I never understood why people hold such hatred towards.

:dunno:

Sadly, this is not a new phenomenon. Best Buy has had the same policies in place since the mid 90s. When I worked there in high school, it was probably worse than it is now, because the average knowledge of a computer was a fraction of what it is now.

That's fairly standard for the computer repair industry. Unless you're working for some sort of high brow private company, for the most part, you don't really need schooling on computer repair, because 90% of the repairs performed are typically the same thing. If companies are really pushed, they'll tell employees to get A+ certified, which is the computer equivalent of being potty-trained.

Gamestop is a plain and simple rip-off. As a customer, I want to be assured that when I trade in a game, I'm at least getting fair value for it. It doesn't have to be full price, simply fair value. The fact that Gamestop charges roughly $15 more for the average game, and gives back roughly $20 less make me wonder about their legitimacy. By in large, Gamestop receives the business it does because it bought out it's only real competition at the time. With the rise of Amazon and a select few other retailers, that trend is dying however. But just to stay relevant, Gamestop cut deals with developers to offer in game unlocks before you can buy the game type of deals, which personally stinks to high heaven.

The ten or so GameStops around me have cheap games. Ranging from $2.99-17.99 for used. If the game is fairly new it will be under $15-20 the original $59.99 price of the game. Give or take. Also depending on how good the game is.

I do agree about the trade in value. Then again I never trade my games in so I haven't to worry about it. I also know of another little small business store that will trade a good bit of money for games. So that is covered.

It seems though that most people have laid off on bashing GameStop. Though at one time if anyone dare mention that name it would set off a internet wildfire of hatred and cruel comments.

I also like when they do the specials of buy two get one free or buy one and get one half off. Whatver.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?

Well I'm assuming that you have German ancestry because of your name.

best buy geek squad prices are out of control. i feel just for them to look at your computer is $100 bucks easy.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
So don't shop there or buy their shit. It's capitalism. If they can make a little bit of extra money, albeit dishonestly, they'll do it.

Consider it a favor to those people who are too poor to afford monthly internet and instead wish to buy a more expensive console system and games.

Unfortunately the one gamestop around here is the only place that sells used games unless somebody wants to buy online. We really get screwed that way.
