Hmmm, this is tough. Boyz in the Hood, Strapped, and New Jack City are classics to me. However, I also liked American Gangster and Belly.

Yeah American Gangster was good, and Belly has a weird, cool feel to it and it is good. Strapped is just such a cult classic to me and my friends when we were growing up.

I suppose Training Day is sort of in the category as well.

I love these kind of films ! out of the choices given in the poll I went with "Menace II Society" but I liked most of the films mentioned.

I am trying to think of other black gangster movies that haven't been mentioned yet, and I thought of a couple, that I enjoyed that IMO are worthy of being mentioned.
1. is "Jason's Lyric" while its not totally a gangster based storyline, along with the love / romance theme there's allot of gangster shit in the way of that love, so I think it was a great gangster film as well.

2. The other film is "Animal" which stars Ving Rhames, and Terrance Howard, which is a great gangster movie IMO. :2 cents:
