Batwoman is gay.

Yeah, the new Batwoman who made her debut waaay back in 2006 is gay. And it got attention from mainstream media as well. Like others have said, this isnt the original Batwoman that first appeared in the late 1950s/early 1960s. Totally different character. Which is just as well, since DC really havent done much with her.

But Wonder Woman being gay is no stretch. Comes from an island of all women with an ancient Greek culture, where same-sex relations was not only accepted but rather common, plus a negative impression of men (though less so over time)... Sounds like an ideal candidate to me.
translation = man-hating bull-dyke. ;)

But I totally admit I have no idea about comics, so I might be wrong. Comic book readers might all be ultra-conservatives :dunno: If a bunch of spotty teenagers and 40 year olds start protesting outside comicbook stores with signs reading "God Hates Fags". I will be proven wrong.
You have just given me an idea for something to do on Friday! Thanks BB! :hatsoff:
Batwoman a lesbian? This could be big! Her, along with Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Catwoman in a 4-way? Holy jerkin' the gherkin Batman!! :rubbel:

:rofl2:

Wasn't she announced as being gay back in 2006? Why is this just now coming out all of sudden.
Yup. Debut was in 2006. Was revealed as Gay in 2006. And Post-2006 ... hasnt done much since. Other than everytime she appears in a comic book, "Lesbian" is either thought of, or (perhaps in some occurances) said out loud by fanboys.

I just think it's ridiculous that her being gay is all of sudden news. It's not like there haven't been gay comic book characters before. Northstar is one and Colossus in Ultimate X-Men is another. As long as the story is good I don't care if she's in love with a turtle.

Is Batwoman being gay really news though? Sure, it was in 2006.

But now? Not really.

I think she's getting press now because she's taking over as lead character for the next year in "Detective Comics" while Batman "gets better" from being dead.

I still think they`ll kill off all the main super heroes and bring them back as a legion of undead crime fighters.

They change things in comics all the time.

Take a look around and main characters like, Spiderman, are not homosexuals.

This isn't the original Batwoman either. It all depends on who writes the comic. I don't see any reason to bring "political correctness" into comics.
I don't read them to see society reflected in the stories.

You know you make a great point.

To paraphrase Dr Dre, Marvel's been there, done that....

Anyone remember Alpha Flight? In particular, Northstar

Thanks :hatsoff:

That last sentence of his alone would make him better than half the professional comic writers out there. It's kind of sad really.

I have thought about writing comics. I do have many of my own characters.
Also, a few possible storylines to go with them.

I already mentioned Northstar. He's done much of nothing sense he "came out." It was all for shock value and to boost sales.

Sorry missed that post...:o

I just don't see any big deal about Batwoman/Kathy Kane being a lesbian....:dunno:

What would be more interesting is if they made Batman gay (have they done that already? I have no idea...) he and Robin could have hot anal sex for 7 to 10 pages, and the publishers could freak out a whole bunch of teenagers.

Yes, they would probably get sued by the "Christians against homosexuality in art", but think of the children, wont somebody please think of the children!!!

They would be sued for corruption of minors.

Unless this was a story in a Vertigo comic with a warning on the cover.

Would DC taint Batman for a cheap joke? They make too much money from Batman.
