It's pretty neat to imagine what it would be like if the idea of using the wings as passenger compartments continued. Imagine the pilot's-eye view all those passengers could get!
Well, this week's Simpson's made me feel old.
The scene above is where middle-aged dads figured they're more at home at an Aviation Museum rather than a sneaker release party. And TBH, I'd being going to the Aviation museum too.
For those who watched Top Gun Maverick, does anyone know why
they didn't just use the Tomahawks on the target itself? I get that there were SAMs, but they seemed to know the location of every one of them, so hitting/expending them along the way likely would have worked. Not to mention they were made for hitting fighters, not cruise missiles, which seemed evident when all the cruise missiles seemed to have gotten through to the airfield without issue.
Don't get me wrong, it was fun to watch, and they clearly knew that a realistic story was optional, but just wanted to see if I missed something.
I know it's not a movie you're supposed to think too hard about, but if I had to pick one plot hole in that movie... that would make my top ten.
Obviously slower than landing on an aircraft carrier, but being able to launch/recover planes opens up possibilities for navies which don't have carriers.
I found this interesting: Say you monitor all the warplanes that come back to base during a war, and record all the bullet holes on every plane when they return. The data shows the red spots where all the bullet holes were on the planes that returned. How would you use this data in redesigning/improving your planes?
You would reinforce the areas that were NOT shot. All the dot indicate places where the plane was shot but still came back. Meaning all the places without bullet holes are where they were kill-shots, and the planes shot in those spots didn't come back.
Interesting how you interpret information can lead to different outcomes!
I can't vouch if legit, but apparently this is a Russian Air Force Su-25SM Frogfoot using a mobile phone for their onboard GPS.
Literally like how we are using it on the cars we drive
