.avi files

Download the divx player. Search google for it.

On another note, does anyone know how to make screenshots of divx / .avi movies?

I use Snag It, but it's not free. Here's a shareware version, but I don't know if the shareware version allows you to capture avi (more accurately Direct X).

Premium Link Upgrade

To watch avi. movies you need to get an avi codec, so like jod said go for the div-x player :D

When I take screen shots I like to use acdsee and when I want to record whats on my screen I have a program called screen recorder gold (it is shareware)

yeah, go get some avi-divx-xvid codecs to watch the video...

to make avi screenshots
just download Premium Link Upgrade (freeware) and press P while watching the movie...

for making screenshots in Windows Media Player just do the next steps:

* Open Windows Media Player
* Go to Tools > Options
* Select the Performance Tab
* Click on the Advanced Button
* Uncheck "Use Overlays'
* Click Ok

now play your favorite movie and press "print screen" button

If you want to keep using Windows Media Player, just download and install ffdshow. You might need AC3filter too.

Get it here:
Premium Link Upgrade use the ffdshow-alpha

Or the unofficial version (which is newer)
