FWIW: I just had to replace the electronics of an ABS module in 2021. Ford wanted something like $1,250 for the part. I found .. FordPartsGiant.com, and they had it for $760. Sold!

Yeah dude, $7,500. Even the guy on the other end, who worked for GM, was astonished, and triple checked it. No ****. I did, that's how I found out how rare and hard to find they were. I thought about taking it to this local guy, that is allegedly amazing when it comes to wiring, but I said fuck it, I had the truck 11 years or so, and I wanted an extend cab, and a lighter duty truck anyway, so I bought the current rust bucket, hence my thought of going with a Ford next time.

I had to post this. It's the only AMC that actually looked pretty cool, although this one has a lousy choice for color, Not knowing much about AMC's cars, I was surprised to see it had a 390ci engine, that put out more horsepower then it was rated at, according to the article.

We used to see that kind of **** back in the sixties. Wannabe drag racers would jack their cars up in the front to allow more weight transfer to the back wheels on acceleration. Looked silly then, looks worse now.

It's sort of sad to see what they do to cars now a days. I can't count the number of times I've seen a nice, solid classic car, that's been turned into an abomination, by candy flip flop colors, and a set of 24' rims. It gets done to Harley's too. Some chucklehead takes a full dress touring bike, that rides like a Caddy, and turn it into a Ford, by putting a ridiculously cartoon like wheel on the front.

It's a hip hop generation. They get what little style they have from *********** that make millions of dollars, but are still cash poor, because they need to live the ridicules lifestyle they've created. I remember telling a Chevy salesman, that a Yukon, or Tahoe looked stupid with the factory low pro tires, and larger rims, and he shrugged and said he agreed, but the people buying want that, so that's what they have. I can't see buying a 4by, then putting less meaty tires on it?!

I have seen some resto mods that looked ok, but most people get stupid, and take it to far. For me, a resto mod means a crate engine and new tranny, leave the rest stock. Hell, I don't even think Craiger Mags are still manufactured. There was a time when almost any car or trucked looked 100% better just by putting on a set of Craiger SS or SST mags.

I'm not hip to pony cars, but I wouldn't pass on this beauty. I would love to see that '69 Cyclone. That's a little more my style, as I'm a big guy, I tend to like bigger cars/trucks, so when it comes to classic iron, I tend to lean towards the cars that would've been in Nascar back in the day, or models that are also offered in 4-door. I'm also not really attracted to most rag tops either, which is to bad, because they're worth a lot more.

I of course remember the Muscle/pony cars when they were new. And later when they were beat up old cars that the insurance companies wouldn't insure. They were fun. The only small hot car I had was an 82 Mustang 5.0(or as we called them back in ancient times a 302) It was fast but not what I had expected. No where near the speed of the big Plymouths I had owned 10 years earlier. That said lot was a better overall car that stopped and handled well. None of us(or not many) ever expected to see cars you could have bought for a couple of grand in 1979 sell today for $1,000,000,000. If we had the garages of America would have been full of them.

How much fun can it be? There's no clutch, and no gear shift.....

I don't know if ANYONE makes a REALLY TRUE manual transmission anymore, for other then a very practical, fuel efficient little sub compact.

Depends on who's talking and where they are talking form. Most younger folk today have little or no experience with manual trans operation. As far as speed the automatics cannot be beaten and paddle shifters have speed and some of the fun and control of manual operation. And more and more people seem to not want to drive their cars at all. See automotive assists. Too many other distractions I guess. I grew up when having a car and money was your key to the world. Now a quality phone is all you need to see anywhere. And with car and travel costs, can you really blame the young for not going nuts over cars? I don't know if I would today.

Now THIS, is what a good looking Cadillac looks like. I believe their appearance went sharply downhill, around 1980, or so. But the best looking examples were before square headlights.

For "some" reason .. Hertz decided to put a Whipple on the block of a Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500, and came away with a 900 HP ***** that YOU can rent! Only 25 are available, though.

I forgot the name, but there is a traveling toy store, that comes to race tracks near you, and for a metric **** ton of cash, you can rent a Ferrari, or McLaren, and take three laps around the course they visit. Mid Ohio was the closest to me, not a bad ride at all, just really expensive. I bet it would be a blast though.

Daystar: Exotics Racing has tracks in Las Vegas, and I think Los Angeles. You can do 5 laps in exotic cars for $249 to .. $599?

Good for you. I hope you had a blast, What was the fastest you got it up to? I think it might be the same company, do they take their show on the road? I remember going to a website, and they had a schedule of tracks and dates they would be there. They offered a few different cars, I know there was a Lambo, a McLaren, and I can't remember which others. I can't remember if they had a Ferrari. I was going to try and get the cash together to make an appointment, and never did. I think I had my eye on the McLaren. But these days, I couldn't even get in and out of one of those things. I don't even know if my left knee would hold up to pushing in any clutch these days, let alone a racing clutch. Although they all have paddle shifters these days.

I was disappointed in the Acura.. I got it up to around 119MPH on the straight. I also drove a Lambo Gallardo with them in 2011, and a Ferrari 430 in 2016:

The Lambo and Ferrari were on ER's original track, North of the city. It had I believe a shorter "straight." But, I was able to go 120+MPH in each of those. Of the two, the Lambo was better. With the AWD, you just punched it coming out of the corner. The Ferrari's .. "nannys" prevented you from going wide open throttle unless the steering wheel was dead straight / in the starting position..

With the Acura - I think the issue was the weight from the batteries, to drive each of the front wheels' electric motors.. Car weights: Lambo = 2,954#; Ferrari = 3,197#, Acura = 3,878#!!
