Beware the free game available through steam called Trackmania Nations Forever! I downloaded it last night and am afraid it will ruin my life and cost me everything I have. It consists of many many short fast races on crazy tracks and ranks your performance against everyone else who plays it, with solo and multiplayer options. I'm not spamming it here, just saying, be careful, it's more addictive than heroin!

i tried trackmania a few years ago when it came out, and was quite disappointed. bad car handling, no collision detection, and a general lack of challenge. a friend of mine really likes it, but i just never got into it. still, if you want a racer/track builder, you could do worse... it costs exactly $0 after all.
