Asteroid Could Hit Earth

no u read it wrong. they dont know where it would hit, it could land anywhere

when it impacts it will devastate everything in a 3.5 miles radius, additionally a 25 mile radius will experience shockwave damage, potentially collapsing many of the buildings in this radius

im not scared, the chances it hits earth is small, and even so, most of the earth is ocean anyway, so we are looking at a very slim chance it will hit one of our continents

Even still, if an object with a radius of 1.0 miles or greater impacts into the ocean, the resulting tidal shockwaves created by the impact will cause tsunamis... and massive coastal flooding and damage. You've seen pictures of the destrction caused by tsunamis off teh coast of Japan and the Greater Pacific Rim, I'm sure.

Undoubtedly there will be resulting earthquakes and tremors as well, cause tectonic plate shifts, which will only add to the generating force causing the eave action.

The further a wave must travel, the more destructive its force once it reaches land.

Elementary physics. Drop a pebble into a puddle. Wave action at its most basic and fundamental level. Science at its best.

Here's an educational/history link that enhances and supports my supposition and hypothesis:

Clean living (ha ha ) and second hand smoke tells me I probably won't have to be here to worry about it . :)

I give us until about 2012 going the way we're going.

When it hits in 2029 there won't be much left

Does anyone really believe this planet will be able to sustain our ways forever? Somethings going to give folks, sooner rather than later. Mass consumption isn't a good thing but hell, who gives a shit, life is good. ;)

I've once heard that according to the Maya people the earth will be gone in 2013.
Apparently they predicted that during their time way back in the days.

DECEMBER 21, 2012, the mayan calender ends predicting by many the end of the world. Could be, but many psychics such as nostradamus feel this date means nothing. Nostradamus sayed the end would be in 2926AD, so i will be dead by then, as for a meteor, lets head to them there hills!

Ok,I thought it was 2013..2012 then.

I once heard that Nostradamus said the world would end in the year 2000, nobody can predict how we'll all die it's just a certainty that every living thing will eventually die weather it's now or 1000 million years away.

Let it come we need to see armegeddon again, wanna see bruce blow it to smitherens....asif they could have stopped it!!!!

I'll half agree with Ol-Skool-Perv on this one. Although I'm sure we'll be around if it does happen, I'm pretty sure that I won't be too pleased with the state of affairs that we'll be in by then. We need quite a few more population controlling natural disasters 'round here. As an infamous jackass once said, "Bring it on!"
