Ask a Stupid Person...

Do you think faster than light travel will ever be possible, and if so, would it even be worth it if Einstein's Theory of Relativity is accurate?

Yes it will, and Einstein was a dingus. It's only a matter of time before all his oddball theories are disproved. :thefinger :wave2:

Are you more stupid than a rotten tomato?

Seriously though, what would be the point if when you got back to where our solar system was supposed to be, and there were only asteroids floating around, because while you were gone, 10,000 years ******, but to you, it only seemed like one.....(I know the numbers don't add up, but you get my point.)

What would be the point of doing all this fantastic traveling and learning about the cosmos if there were no one to share it with when you got back?

Food for thought.

I saw an article on the Yahoo front page that said Einstein's Theory of Relativity was now proven.Although, I didn't read the article because I knew I would understand any of it.

But that wouldn't happen, and that's why Einstein was a dingus. Time is only from a persons perspective, it's not a tangible thing. Time itself passes at the same rate for everything, it's only people who feel it differs, because of emotion. Hard to explain this without a two hour presentation. I'll have a think about it,and maybe post again later. :wave2:

Cool.....I love this stuff. I don't really know a lot of details about string theory, light travel, etc, but it's still awesome to think about.

First of all Einstein was not a dingus, I think he was German.

Secondly, time is not from a person's perspective time is constant it is the human perception of time and our measurement of time that changes but time itself does not change only how we move through it.
I do like the idea of you giving more thought before you post again.

It's the speed of light which gives the perception. Like when you look at stars through a telescope, you are seeing them as they were many years ago, not as they are now (or maybe it's all the make-up and plastic surgery :1orglaugh). This doesn't mean you have actually travelled back in time, or that the stars have travelled forward, it's just an illusion caused by the distance the light had to travel.

It's the same with black holes, time may appear to stop at the centre, but only because the light cannot escape the hole so you cannot see what is happening. To someone in the hole, time would still pass normally.

Confusing, I know, I've confused myself too. But that's quantum science, I suppose. :crash: :wave2: :*****:

First it's green ****...now dog food smellin' balls. It's been a helluva week for you eh Chef?

Why can't I marry a **** fortune heiress and run for president?

You would be going the speed of light with your headlights switched on.

If the Matrix really does exist...how can I shag a chick like Trinity?

Einstein's theory of relativity states that as a body approaches the speed of light, it approaches infinite mass, and since ***** = mass x acceleration, an infinite mass needs an infinite ***** in order to accelerate it. Therefore, by that theory, faster than lightspeed travel is impossible. I'm sure there are, however, theoretical physicists working on it who know a lot more about it then I do. Those guys are seriously nuts, but in the good way.

If you were in a car that was going the speed of light, and you turned on your headlights, what would happen?

ooh, ooh.. I know that one..

You're battery would go flat really quickly.
