Aria against porn interview

Oh, I thought it was the other aria.

Not really all that surprising though. Many former porn stars and pornographers flip on the porn industry once they've seen how it exploits. As long as it's considered a form of art (laugh), the government won't be able to shut it down.

I imagine there are a lot of a**holes that exploit women (and men) in "the industry" but I also am naive enough to think there is a sector of the business where there is no exploitation. After all - feminists should applaud the porn industry, it's one of few businesses where women make a lot more money than men!

I don't think you can shut down porn - you could - and should - shut down the ugly parts of the industry. I mean - you would not ask to ban all carpets, or all sneakers, would you? Many carpets and sneakers are fabricated in sweatshops in South east Asia by children. The sane thing to be would be to ban the brands that use children as labour, not all brands. Same thing with porn.

Well in the clip she mentions her church so it sounds more like someone who found religion and she probably looks at a lot of things as bad or "evil" now.

If it were the other Aria (one of my favorites :) ), I would understand this better. But this is confusing. I guess she's right in that the business exploits women too much, but that's how anything gets seen in this world. Don't TV networks exploit their shows as much as possible on their networks? And I would think that feminism would have nothing to do with this argument - women have all the power in the porn industry, not men; without the women, there is no porn industry.

Yep

women have all the power in the porn industry, not men; without the women, there is no porn industry.

Despite some progress the industry is still very much male-dominated, and built on the backs of mostly very young, mostly underpaid (considering), and mostly disposable (in the industry's eyes) women who generally haven't the maturity or foresight to realize how seriously their involvement may affect the rest of their lives. That doesn't bespeak "power" to me, my friend; though I do understand your point in the most literal sense - that if there were no actresses there'd be no movies.

Yep, church, need we say more.

On a side note, she looks horrible. I never thought she was attractive anyhow, but damn.

Good points bodie54

I've only skimmed this thread, but so far, it looks like a bunch of porn-loving guys who think that porn is exploitive and problematic, if not out and out immoral.

I love porn, but have no illusions about it.

I've known one or two people who went into the industry and tbh they were lazy girls who wanted easy money, but also to kid themselves they work really hard.

No, people like nurses work really hard (and for little pay).

Porn stars get paid to fuck.

And, when they canb't do it anymore, some of them go on to slate it.

Nice, admirable, people - not.

Still doesn't stop me enjoying watching it.

Now that's honesty for you.

doesn't sound like she's against the 'exploitation' so much as she finds it morally offensive. IMO, too bad for her. she should keep her morals to herself, esp AFTER she made her money off it.
