I never did understand the reticence to using horses for food.

as many as 200,000 horses a year could be slaughtered for human consumption. Most of the meat would be shipped to countries in Europe and Asia, including France and Japan.

Horses are pretty and you can ride them in the mountain and have lots of fun in the country with them. A cow all they do is moo, ****,and walk away from you until they are taken to the slaughterhouse to be eaten, horses are just different. They are a creature meant to be seen and run free imo

It's very similar to the eating of dogs and cats; in some cultures, they're just another ****** and are eaten as such. Some people just don't form that same familiar attachment to them that's so prevalent in the West.

That's a good question. I can't answer it, but I still find eating horsemeat odd. Not any more wrong than a cow, but it just seems weird. Like eating a pet.

The difference is that horses are not considered to be livestock in our culture... at least the kind of livestock intended for human consumption
