Okay, so I don't start many threads, but I've been listening to Jazz all day and reminiscing about when I actually used to have time to play more (used to be an avid jazz drummer).
Needless to say, I was wondering who your favorite Jazz Musicians are, mainly because I feel it necessary to widen my library. Here's some of mine:
1. Miles Davis
2. Diana Krall (for those of you who have not heard her earlier stuff and/or her Live in Paris album are missing the fact that this girl grooves on piano better than most Jazz musicians... I would venture to say her piano playing is better than her singing).
3. Herbie Hancock
4. Art Blakey
5. Josh Redman
One other no-name that most people might miss... a girl by the name of Orna. She is not that well known, but is a wonderful Jazz singer from South America. I'm not usually into singing with Jazz, but this girl, and the trio she plays with, is just amazing! Just go to amazon and search for her.
