Any golfers here?

I do indeed, sir. However, I've been up in Sacramento for the past week.

Have you ever played The Olympic Club?
It's one of the few great west coast golf courses I've never played.

You might also know there's also a nice municipal course in Berkeley named Tilden Park.

Personally, no, I've never been on it. Although a bunch of my buddies have invited me to an annual tournament there, but I've always been out of town. Tilden Park is probably the course I play most, but to be honest, probably 80% of the golf I play is out of state when I'm traveling for my job.

Well one of these days, hopefully.

Cool
I love that course, I used to play there a lot.
Also at Richmond Country Club. I had a buddy who was a member there.

What's your favorite out-of-state course?

My favorite one that I've played so far is Princeville Makai in Kauai. Really beautiful layout, and a friend of mine was college roommates with one of the managers there, and had free drinks waiting for us at each hole. But really, the course was gorgeous, I'd go again in a heartbeat? How much do you play out of state?

Nice!
Refresh my memory; is Princeville located along Hanalei Bay?

Very little anymore, I'm sorry to say. My work and family both keep me close to home. Fortunately there's an incredible wealth of great courses in our home state

In Hawaii I have played Kaanapali, Kapalua and Wailea. I've been to Kauai but never played golf there.

I have also played golf in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Oklahoma.

Bought a nice second bag for the pull cart from the Craigs for only 20 bucks today.
The weather is supposed to get nasty this weekend - oh well.

I have like 5 sets. I'm always looking in thrift stores for clubs. Always. I need to get rid of some of them! I'm thinking I'm going to keep my old school forged Hogans and my Macgregor M455's. I hate to part with them but I'm going probably get rid of my badass Wilson Staff Mendrallas. They are sick, but I'm going to go with a little more forgiveness and hopfully pick up a set of Macgregor M675 and cut the set up and go 3-6 and 7-PW. IMO the most beautiful irons ever made and some of the most buttery feeling sticks you will ever hit. :2 cents:

I was bummed out when Golfsmith bought the company but they still make a superior McGregor product. :)

They are great, but my favorite old school irons are still the ones Titleist made in the early 70s.

Yeah, they make some nice sticks. I know Tiger used a set of Titleist 681 blades forever. Word on my golf forum is that Miura forged them. That is just speculation. Some real cool info on Tiger can be found here:

Any familiar with Miura? He makes some crazy sticks. Also Honma makes some outrageously priced clubs. I had a Honma driver I got from my auction site for like $200 and turned around and sold it on the 'Bay for like $500. Most expensive drivers you will ever be fortunate enough to have in your arsenal.

When I talk to managers at places like Golf Galaxy, apparently Mizuno and Ping are the best irons because their metals are all domestic and don't get "dead". I swear I've talked to more professionals who have all said the exact same thing. :dunno:

If you want a superior product at a reasonable price, try Nicklaus. Incredibly sexy wedges. I plan on picking up some black oxide/gunmetal black Dual Slot wedges when I get rid of some of my other wedges.

Lastly, Maltby also makes a brilliant (component) product. The MMB blades are sooooo sick:

Those are probably some of the nicest blades outside of the M675's I posted about earlier. :drool1:

The best selling irons of all time are the Tommy 845s that I had a set of forever. And then of course, I had a set of the older V-Foil irons Aaron Baddely said were "the best irons he ever hit."

I just got a new R11 driver the white one that is made by Taylor Made it is awesome

You like it? What did they charge for that thing? Aren't they charging like 6 bills? 'Member when the R5 with the silver Diamana was selling for $1,000.00? Dear God, that shit was crazy.

Personally I think advancements in technology on the market maxed out a good decade ago, but I never really buy new. I do, however, have a TM R7 Superquad, but I just picked up a Adams Redline driver for like $20.00 and a dope Insight 5 wood for 9 bucks. :elaugh:

My TM Rescue mid will likely never leave my bag; it is my go-to club and it replaced my 3 iron. I look forward to picking up the Adams Insight BUL driver or maybe the first Adams Speedline driver soon as well. The Speedline drivers were siiiiick. Yes, I'm a whore (as they call it on the golf forum).

Hopefully going to sign up for a best ball fundraiser at the beginning of April which should be fun.
Maybe I'll win the $10,000 hole in one contest!

They can be fun/interesting. They usually have door prizes. Last one I went to I won a sweatshirt and of course it was a bar league/tournament, so I got shitrailed.

They can be pricey though.
