Any boating enthusiasts here?

I have a little 14 foot Ted Williams Sears and Roebuck aluminum. I absolutely love it. I can go out in the fall months and gather oysters or just drift near the inlet for flounder.

Carry a few cans of Armour Vienna sausages and a couple of diet Mountain Dews in the cooler and I'm good.

Good times!

I love boating, but I couldnt tell you a thing about boats. I guess I'm an enthusiast of being out on the water. I was out on a fishing boat a couple weeks ago. I'd never leave if I had the choice.

How much does one of those aluminum boats run you?

Oh man mine is old. It was my dad's. I had to buy a new motor a little 15 hp Mercury outboard 4 stroke. I paid about 3 grand for it.

I had to sell mine since it was back in Sweden and bringing it over to the Netherlands just wasn't economically viable.

French oak hull, mahogany interior and teak decking.

Built in 1953 in Stockholm, original owner was a priest who after receiving it realized he didn't know anything about boats, so 2 years afterwards he sold it to my grandfather, in 1976 my father took it over, and in 2003 he gave it to me since he bought a bigger boat.

The fenders are handmade by father.

In 1991 the engine caught on fire, but we managed to put it out and then replaced it.

In 1995 we apparently hadn't watered it down enough so when we launched it it sank like a stone to the bottom, got stuck in mud and we worked for 3 days to pull it up again, but that summer it hardly took on any water at all. :)

In 1997 we replaced the deck, including the ridge, which included us buying an old moonshine distillery from the police and converting that to a steam pipe so we could bend the wood to the correct shape. And yes, the police did come out and check up on us as we were converting it to make sure no funny business was going on.

In 2001 it was never launched, instead I sanded down the entire hull and spent the summer laying on 8 layers of varnish.

I really do miss that boat, and I hate the fact that I had to get rid of it, but its better that someone uses it than let it stand on land and rot away.

I´ve only got this image here at work, but I´ll dig out another one if your interested when I get back home again.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this Nordic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a bald pornographer,
The skipper dumb and thick.
All of Freeones set sail that day
To all play with their dicks, all play with their dicks.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for Regina jumping overboard
The office would be lost, the office would be lost.

The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
With Anders
And Roald too,
With Willem and his wife,
And Rory too
The professor and Petra,
Here on Ander's Place.

So this is the tale of the castways,
They're not really that missed,
They'll have to make the best of things,
Before they all get pissed.

First mate Anders and Roald,
Will sneak off after dark,
To beat off in the jungle brush,
And chew off strips of bark.

No phone, no lights, no motor car,
No Wifi or DSL,
Like the book Dante's Inferno,
It must be a real hell.

So join and watch the group go nuts,
Punch one in the face,
Our seven stranded derelicts,
Here on "Ander's Place."

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
About twice a year I go to Lake Norman, get royally drunk and ride around on my friend's boat (my girl's brother-in-law). I can't swim and I know nothing about boats. My girl and her sister ride the jet skis. I stay on the boat - I'm not THAT stupid. All I know is, it's got an engine and about 8-10 people can comfortably fit on it.

Lake Norman is a great place!

Thank you, that put a smile on our faces this dreary Friday morning. :)
