Any Beatles fans?

And which are your favourite tracks?

I've always loved this band's music- not the early stuff, but the studio material from 1966 onwards- maybe including the album Rubber Soul from their mid-career period.

Many people that 'diss' them usually have only ever heard those admittedly simplistic dance tunes- yet v.good for their time, not their innovative and sometimes even usually 'unplayed' songs, such as Sexy Sadie, Getting Better, Tomorrow Never Knows, Because and Revolution.

The earlier tracks (ie She Loves You) paled in comparison to the later songs of the colossal talents of Lennon, McCartney & Harrison, when they had the time to write, perform and experiment properly.

If anyone's interested, I have started a website about them?

thats cool but im more of a lennon fan but all the beatle work is great. i just dont like the fact pual now is liveing ego that he is the greatest beatle now did you see him at the grammies?

I have Revolver around here somewhere, I'm not a huge fan but I like some of their stuff and I respect what they achieved and what they did for the music industry.

:hatsoff:

My favorite band, but I am more into the earlier rocking years. Not that the later stuff was not groundbreaking and great also but I just find the early carefree rockin stuff more to my liking.

Still listening to the boys, even the "old" stuff. I had an older sister, and remember the crazy hysteria the boys created with their "new" sound and how different it was from the usual teen music of the time.
To this day, I still listen to all the albums and am in awe of the unique blending of such different perosnalities, both musical and personal, that created the kind of music that still gives me a thrill.
The White Album, Sgt. Peppers, Abbey Road, Let It Be...totally different from Revolver and Rubber Soul, and Magical Mystery Tour.
I like a lot of different music, from Stone Temple Pilots to Emmy Lou Harris, but even Zepplin doesn't hold a candle to the longevity of the lads from Liverpool.
Hell of a body of work!

It's amazing how a group of kids could accomplish what they did in as short a span of time as theirs (they were together as a group for less than a decade). I've taken college classes where the topic of discussion for weeks is the music of The Beatles. They did things in their music that I doubt they knew they were doing. They're great!

The Yellow Submarine is my favourite one ;)
When my little girl was 4, and older, we'd put on the dvd of the Submarine, and at almost every song we'd both jump up, sing along as loudly as we could, and dance madly around the room.
She lost everything she had in the Katrina flood, and she asked me if I could get her the dvd again when we were trying to replace some of her favorite things.
She loves the movie, and the music, to this day (she's a mature 7 now:D).

I like alot of the more famous and well-known stuff

Rock and Roll Music
Eight Days a Week
Twist and Shout
All You Need Is Love

I love the early stuff. After Sgt. Pepper- it's hit and miss for me.

But man, I could listen to "I saw her standing there" on a loop!

H

the early pop hits like "I wanna hold your hand" and "she loves you" were irresistable in their time, even if i wouldn't admit it as i prefered the harder bluesy stuff from the animals and stones. but when they wanted to the beatles could rock with any band. listen to "money" "kansas city" and "she's so heavy".

Sgt Peppers was the best album of all time to listen to while on LSD :jump:

I like the Stones way more, but I have a soft spot for the UK copies of Revolver and Rubber Soul. My favorite songs would be:

I Am Only Sleeping
Tomorrow Never Knows
Strawberry Fields Forever
For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite
Taxman

I am not a fan of Paul at all. He is certainly the most talented Beatle, but his songs are pretty awful. Paul for sure ruined The Beatles at least to me.

Tomorrow never knows - one of my all time favorites.
Helter Skelter
In my life
For no one
I am the Walrus
Something - fantastic song
Yesterday.

Far too many to mention. I love the Beatles! I wish I was a 60's kid!

Lord Dipstick
McCartneys' solo stuff as well as Lennons' were better than anything the The Beatles put out imo!
But if I had to pick one, it'd be I Am The Walrus!:dunno:

Jagger69

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
My favorites:
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
"A Day In The Life"

It'd be hard to beat those 2!

Most overrated band of all time!
John Lennon is the most inappropriately adored pop star, a sanctimonious swine!:mad::mad:

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but I'd say you are in the overwhelming minority with that take. To underestimate and dismiss the influence of the Beatles on the evolution of music would be akin to saying that Bach, Beethoven and John Lee Hooker were over-rated. Besides, you dissed my hero, John Lennon (I mean, the guy's been dead for nearly 30 years....give him a break!) and for that misdeed you get one Jagger69 demerit (I don't do neg rep but if I did, you'd get one here)!
