Damn shame. He was still a young man. I knew about his wife and child, I just hadn't heard he had cancer. He certainly deserves his due....I'm sure many a young kid got his first kit because he heard Tom Sawyer.
When my lazy self is cruising around town middle of the day, middle of the week, middle of the month taking my sweet ass time running a few casual but mainly unimportant personal errands I enjoy cranking this song in the truck and singing along...
My brother was a huge fan when I was a kid in Toronto. Needless to say they were very big there back in the early 70s. He went to see them back after they released Fly By Night. That was the first album featuring Peart. He brought me back a T-Shirt that smelled like pot and his ticket stub which I kept for years before it was lost. I was never a huge fan but I tell you...watching Peart do a solo was like watching an artist paint some classic picture. RIP to The Fountainhead.
Saw Rush at MSG in 81. I remember the feeling in my chest from Peart pounding on the drums. I thought my heart was going to explode, and I loved every minute of it! I will raise a glass in memory of the Professor, and the joy he brought to my life.
