Just a little poll - which Summer "Blockbuster" movie(s) do you intend to watch? Will it be:

Superman Returns - After a long visit to the lost remains of the planet Krypton, the Man of Steel returns to earth to become the peoples savior once again and reclaim the love of Lois Lane...
X-Men: The Last Stand - When a cure is found to treat mutations, lines are drawn amongst the X-Men, led by Professor Charles Xavier (Stewart), and the Brotherhood, a band of powerful mutants organized under Xavier's former ally, Magneto (McKellen).
The Omen 666 - A remake of the 1976 horror classic The Omen, an American official realizes that his young son may literally be the devil incarnate...
The Sentinel - A disgraced special agent to the White House (Michael Douglas) endeavors to foil a conspiracy to assassinate the U.S. President...
Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift - In order to avoid a jail sentence, Shaun Boswell heads to Tokyo to live with his military officer uncle. In a low-rent section of the city, Shaun gets caught up in the underground world of drift racing...
RV - Bob McNeive (Robin Williams) and his dysfunctional family rent an RV for a roadtrip to the Colorado Rockies, where they ultimately have to contend with a bizarre community of campers.
Miami Vice - Vice detectives James Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs take on the Florida drug world....
Poseidon - In this remake of the 1972 disaster classic 'The Poseidon Adventure', a luxury ocean liner capsizes from a colossal tidal wave, leaving its survivors to fend for themselves as they find a way out...
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) owes an unpaid debt to Davy Jones and his army of sea-phantoms...his soul. Now, he must find a way to save himself from becoming one of them, and suffering forever.

Or is there something else like the Pixar fast–paced CGI comedy Cars, Mission: Impossible III or The DaVinci Code?
Or is there a summer hit I've overlooked?

PS: you can pick more than one movie (for example, I've plumped for Superman Returns, X-Men: The Last Stand & Miami Vice)....

Nikkala made me do it!
I don't see much in theaters, but I'll probaby rent or buy Superman Returns, Dead Man's Chest and MI:3 before long.

Now that you've read this message, go to THIS thread

I wanna see Superman,Mission Impossible III, Da Vinci Code and Pirates of the Caribean...those are the ones for me and Congrats on 5,000

Superman
Mission Impossible III
The DaVinci Code
Miami Vice

And, one that I'm not sure is a blockbuster or not, A Scanner Darkly. I plan on reading the book soon, but the movie sounds really intriguing. That is, so long as Keanu Reeves doesn't suck in it.

Wait, how can Superman go back to Krypton? Once he entered the solar system that Krypton is in, wouldn't the red sun make him lose his powers causing him to die in space? Is he going to take a space ship there and bacK???

GOD I FEEL LIKE A NERD NOW!!!:(

Congrats om3ga for reaching 5000 and winning a Freeones shirt.

Now that you have got it, why not flaunt it on the board like other star members? Put up a pic of yours with, & then without, the shirt on. :D

With my time I'll be able to manage one. And it will be "The Da Vinci Code" on 19th May. :hatsoff:

Good question.....

There's nothing in the following info to indicate how he reached Krypton...

WARNING - Plot details follows.......if you don't want to know, don't read any further!!!

In this semi-sequel to the first two Superman films, the movie begins with astronomers discovering the remnants of Krypton in space, and Superman heads towards them determined to find out whether he is indeed the last son of Krypton. Whilst there he encounters ruins of the buildings audiences glimpsed in "Superman: The Movie".
Meanwhile Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) escapes jail due to Superman's absence and his failure to tesify against him at court. Having found out the location of the Fortress of Solitude in "Superman II", Lex returns there, this time pilfering Supermans home of lots of Kryptonian technology so that he can create a new contintent and take over the world using a plan involving real estate.
Lois Lane comes to terms with Supermans disappearence through writing editorials insisting the world doesn't need Superman, and by getting married and having a son.
After exploring the remnants of Krypton, and six years having passed since his inital disappearence, Superman heads back to Earth, having only found dead bodies in the ruins of Krypton, hence the line in the trailer "That place was a graveyard, I'm all thats left".
Superman makes a dramatic comeback to Earth rescuing a crashing commerical space shuttle that has just had a world famous launch, that also happens to be carrying Lois Lane. It's a Virgin shuttle, so I'm guessing this is where Richard Branson will make his cameo at some point.
The whole world then knows that Superman has returned. What he finds astounds him - the world he knew has changed for the worse. In his absence, the forces of evil have regrouped like never before. Even Lex Luthor, once an outcast, has risen to the heights of power in Metropolis. And when an old enemy from Krypton reappears, Superman must fight his never-ending battle like never before; amidst a world that has forgotten what it's like to have a hero.

Om3ga, happy 5000th post!
I'll be watching Miami Vice because I've loved Mann since "The Outsider", which in turn led me to re-evaluate his 80's work (ie - Vice), and I think no one captures the macabre sexiness of LA like him.

Does Casino Royale come out this summer? I'll defiantly see a Bond flick!

Casino Royale, interestingly enough, Ain't out until November, which is kind of strange, as I doubt that MGM is looking for Oscar glory with it. I guess it was just a shooting schedule.

Main reason why I want to see Miami Vice, too - if it was anyone else BUT Mann behind the movie, I would have avoided it.....

Om3ga - Too true. I so agree. I reckon he is just the man to make it seedy enough, and to provide the ambient funk of the 80's to the point of the movie being cool without parody. I'm really looking forward to it.

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor...hmm, I hope I can get past him as Doctor Evil in "Gold Member" seeing him bald again! I sure hope that movie is better thought out than it sounds to be in the synopsis.

Superman Returns does seem to be well thought of in terms of both continuity and character. i just think that it's not going to be a cash cow like 1&2 were.
