Americans and Our Lack of Culture

"If I were American I would travel to the country which I-or my ancestor- have come to United States"

I am English-German.

I visit Germany to get in touch with my Aryan side. England for my alcoholic side

I prefer the Republican National Convention. We have a secret meeting place where we all dress up like Josef Mengele and chant Sieg heil

I think one thing some of you americans posting here are forgetting or didn't know is that most European countries give their citizens 6 weeks of paid vacation every year so they are able to travel, even the ones who aren't rich. My friend is a taxi driver in London and he travels regularly. He just returned from a trip to Majorca and was in the states earlier this year. Being a taxi driver in London is hardly a rich man's profession.

Move. Problem solved.

So this thread is basically about how much better it is everywhere else than it is here.

What a novel liberal stance.

Ah yes what an appropriate answer. It is better in some ways in other places, but we'll be there soon enough. Maybe you could be the modern day Paul Revere and drive around in your fancy car shouting "The progressives are coming! The progressives are coming!" As mandatory vacations are imposed on corporations along with higher and equal wages. What a horrible place it will be then right?

Douche

Hey, New York is offering major supply side Incentives for businesses to start up and relocate there. I wonder why such a liberal state would do that?

Some of the most beautiful women in the world are in Montreal. Its like a parade of babes. Some of the best food in the world is there as well. One of my favorite places in the world.

Ehh i'm not a foodie so its hard for me to get excited about your videos. Since i tend to not watch them it seems like you go places and you eat their food and then you talk about the food you ate. Even in a non-foodie thread you talk about how you went to France and had some Croissants, how you went to Italy and had some food and how you went to Sicily and while on a drive you had some food. I'm curious...but do you actually talk about anything other than food? I'd actually be interested in hearing about the other things you saw in Italy and France.

I've traveled to lots of places and i've also lived at a few places overseas for several years. Not only can i tell you all about the food and drink i've had BUT i can also tell you people about some of the tourist attractions and non-tourist attractions i've been to. Like who here wants to hear about the story about how an island full of deer once tried to eat me alive? or about how 12 year old me got to visit the Hiroshima Atom Bomb museum and how the displays there freaked me out? how about the time i saw a reenactment of a Samurai Archer on horseback and shooting a target at full speed? or how i met this one really reaaaaaally hot Turkish woman? or do you guys just want to hear about how i had sushi and Lotteria in Japan, Spam Musubi and Loco Moco in Hawaii and Kim Chi and Bulgogi in S. Korea? actually that last one was a partial lie cause i've never had Kim-Chi. Unless you count the time i rode in a Korean taxi and i got second hand Kim-Chi fumes from the driver...and no i'm not joking, some of them *do* eat it that much.

Not all of NY state is liberal. And they have lost a lot of industry due to corporations enjoying republican incentives to outsource and move overseas for cheaper labor.

That state is ruled by liberal legislators. Those incentives had to be approved by them.

Of course....same with California. Orange county is very republican as is ventura county but a left state overall. NY has had a lot of business leave because of incentives to leave by who???????? REPUBLICANS!!! So the legislators are trying to get business to come back or new business to come by offering incentives.

Where exactly do you see an issue here and how is it a democrat failure?

.

You are losing it, even the most partisan pols agree that California have lost their competitive edge because of Democrat controlled policies. New York wised up after losing businesses due to outrageous taxation. California is beyond hope. The only thing holding California together is Silicon Valley and look where most of their products are made.

Not all of the trains in europe are good. not all are bullet trains either. Ive taken the train all over and had great experiences and very bad ones. Some have no food or water on them at all, some have decent food cars. some blast a horn every 10 minutes to keep sheep off the track like in Switzerland and most of Scandinavia.

I find it interesting how defensive some of you get as if its insulting to say that traveling broadens horizons. I would hardly use the slogan "Stay put! You'll be better for it!" or think anyone else would for that matter.

I go to places I've never heard of all the time and it's one of my favorite ways to travel. When I travel I rarely dine in places that are fancy because that's not getting the true experience of the place you're visiting. I prefer street foods over restaurants in some place. In Italy when I drove from Rome to Sicily along the Amalfi coast there were little roadside stands where they had a grill and cold drinks with fresh fruit. So you'd get a plate of fresh sausage with asparagus and mushrooms with a piece of bread and sliced orange that was incredible. That to me is ideal, not sitting in some restaurant. Don't get me wrong, I do eat in restaurants. I take the train and subway. I walk mostly if I can. I went to fucking Montreal in February this year for christ's sake because I thought it sounded like an adventure.

So you can talk shit and call me an elitist but that's bullshit. I am anything but. I won't apologize for liking nice things but I am not driven by them. I have an interest in the unknown, which is something people with little creativity know nothing about.

finally to say something I agree with you

So let's sum up the last page for everyone. The elitist queen that thinks she knows how to run everybody else's life better than they do, is having a meltdown because she doesn't even know how her own Government works. Sound about right?

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
There are almost double the number of states in the U.S. as there are countries in the E.U., I'm content to check the ones in my own backyard off before hopping over to Europe. Floating the Neches river may not sound as exotic as doing the same thing on some river in Italy or Germany but the fishing is pretty damn good.

Yep. Plenty of this country I would like to see...maybe one day. Right now, I live check to check, and want some more toys. Sometimes you have to prioritize.
