Am I the only one who thinks the current black girl weave/wig/fake straight hair era is disgusting?

I don't really fancy that but telling it is disgusting goes a litle too far, IMO
You speak of girls who uses extension but they are also girls but straighten their hair.
I can understand girls doing that : Their natural frizzy hair is restricting their har-styling options

All the more reason why I feel anything fake on a woman is ugly.. not ugly in the physical sense, but ugly in the sense that lying about your appearance imo is just an "ugly" thing to do. And no I'm not talking about models wearing make up or wigs/hair extensions to take pictures for their job, but the "everyday" woman that will put on these things when going out and socializing.
Then I guess you also think make-up is disgusting, don't you ?

Typically when men say that they like "natural beauty", the keyword there is still "beauty". This means that they like naturally "beautiful" women, not naturally "ugly" women. What comes to "natural beauty" as a whole, just mean that men have always favored one who is "naturally" beautiful over "fake boob botox bimbo" beautiful aka ugly under the dust bowder. There is really nothing new at that... Basically enjoying natural beauty is just a nice way to say that, a man is a bit picky with looks, but at the same time he favors one naturally the way a woman is supposed to be over fake, shallow, insecure and petty women.

If a black girl has her own natural hair straightened out I do not have a problem with that.
If a black girl has her own natural hair combed out into an Afro I do not have a problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is the current black girl trend of weaves & wigs. Fake straight/straightened hair.
It looks terrible on them.

When a popular black girl singer (who is just a singer of the moment who makes awful unlistenable r&b music nobody will remember in 20 years) wears a weave or a wig in a video then within a few days all of her millions of young black girl followers do the same thing with their hair.

Such an awful era we are in.
Both musically and appearance wise.
It really is sad.

Look at chicks like Ashanti, La La Anthony, Joie Chavis, Esther Baxter and so forth and tell me they aren't smokin' hot. Weaves or not. Those women are gorgeous. There is a good looking black woman on the Today Show named Tamron Hall, she wears her hair short, Halle Berry style and she is beautiful. She actually went with her natural hair for a few days which means she didn't straighten it and although she looked great she went back to straightening it and she looked better. There are no weaves in her hair because it is short. I think this thread is silly. I am starting to think that black women are looking better more and more with some of the things they are doing to their hair. There was a chick that posted here briefly named Aria DeLaunay that had red or pink hair probably straightened or weaves but she may be one of the hottest babes to ever post here. Bangin' body too. I wish she would come back.

Let me give the OP some insight on the afro. Growing up in that era, I can tell you that there were wigs for women whose hair would not grow long enough. There were toupees are well for men. The was a wig store that had them for black and whites. There was a relaxer called the Blowout Kit. Because a lot of us had the length but the hair would corkscrew or would tightly curl; this mild relaxer was used to straighten the hair just enough to create the afro. As far as other ethnicities are concerned. There was a rumor of Jayne Mansfield head being in the road after the car crash. The coroner later said that never happened and it was the wig she was wearing in the road.
Men die the gray in their hair, wear toupees, or worst do the "comb over". Some do like I do and go the "Issac Hayes/Yul Brenner" look. In the 80's a lot of us were Jheri (Curl) Kids. I guess we are/were fake as well.
Long story short, it just seems be more prevalent because you are just noticing it.

Side note: I just saw MBG cover the other process for creating the afro.

Ok, so this is very subjective, it's all about tastes, yout tastes. You'll learn that your tastes are yours only and that the rest of the 6 illions humans beings on this planet doesn't particularly share them. You'll learn that what you find ugly, some people might find it beautiful. And things you find beautiful might get them as outraged as you are about this.
Now are black girls wearing wigs and hair extensions worthy of a thread dedicated to a rant from you about them, I don't think so...

1) 20 years from now, 90% of the music we have today will be forgotten, all styles combined. And I don't think it was very different in the 70' or the 60', we may remeber a few bads, a few songs but the most part of the musical production of the era has vanished into oblivion.
2) What you describe is not specific to black popular singer and young black girls. Young white girls also take popular white singer as rle-model, try to copy their hair-do, their dress-style, etc.

Such an awful era we are in.

Ok, so this is another "Things were much better in the past" thread.
As obsessedByDark said it, the year starts great!

You mean it looks terrible on all races of women. You are bypassing Harley spencer's post.

These kind of topics pop up all the time on the forum, but it's usually related to likes instead of something any particular poster finds undesirable. I think it speaks to the mindset and character of the topic starter and the supporters/detractors as to what side you land on. Starting a thread specifically to complain about something you don't like when there's plenty of things you could post that you do like is childish. What makes you a critic? Who cares about what you don't like? Sure, you'll find others trolly enough to join in on your crusade against whatever it is, and if it's a cause worthy of railing against that's great, but when you're talking about subjective preferences don't expect others to just let you whine without giving their feedback. Hell, flamebait is really all it is. If you find something disgusting then move on to something you don't find disgusting, no one will be any worse for wear and You Might avoid the rest of the forum community thinking you're a self important douche.

There's a big difference between changing your look, ie: shaving or dyeing your hair, and being deceptive about your appearance, ie: wearing hair to make it longer than it really is or wearing padded clothing to make your tits/ass bigger than they actually are. Men also shave and some guys dye their hair too.

All the more reason why I feel anything fake on a woman is ugly.. not ugly in the physical sense, but ugly in the sense that lying about your appearance imo is just an "ugly" thing to do. It's not the women who are faking their appearances that are ugly inside. What's more important is why we lie about our appearances. Women choose to look a certain way due to the types of girls we see other men with. Who gets the most attention? Girls in baggy shirts and sweatpants, no makeup, hair all matted from not having been styled, or girls in tight dresses, heels, hair perfectly styled, makeup, big boobs and nice round asses? It's the latter. Those girls we see in porn, in strip clubs, on TV, singing, out at clubs. Meanwhile the girls who don't get all dressed up, primped and perfumed are feeling left out, ignored, ugly, and so they seek to become the girl that guys are gawking at.

That is what's disgusting. The reality of the world is that everyone wants to be the best, and whether that best is natural or not, we still strive toward it. Even if guys complain and bitch about girls wearing extensions, wearing too much makeup, and eating salads instead of diving into wings, they will still more often than not go for those girls.

So don't blame girls for lying about their appearances. Blame the whole of society. Because in the end, as said above, what's more important is the cause of the lie rather than the lie itself.

Uhh...so by your standards every woman that wears makeup is also "deceptive" or lying? Get real. I don't really see any logical difference in that and what you think is deceptive. I'd go so far as to say there isn't much difference between "changing your look" and being "deceptive about your appearance" except in the weird mental gymnastics you yourself go though in your head to try and make it so.

Have you ever wondered that maybe a lot of those women that do it aren't doing it for us are anybody else, but doing it simply for themselves because that's what they like? Even if they don't who the hell cares? If anything I place more blame on society and stupid people other than them that place so much importance on it than women that want to fit in or don't want to face a tactical disadvantage because of people that can't see beyond appearances.
