Alien V Predator.

I was planning on buying untill I read the reviews on metacritic. It has really bad reviews so far , so I'm not gonna get it. Too bad , I was really hoping for that game to be good. I also tried the demo and it's not much fun at all.

I'm getting it, hopefully today. I'm just waiting for my Pre-Order on XBOX 360 (which I reserved after playing the demo (which was based on an year old early code)). Anyway I don't listen to reviews. Never have, never will because of the simple fact I've seen plenty of reviewers trash decent games and praise terrible games because they are bought off. I had a blast with the demo. Speaking of reviews I've only seen two "bad" reviews, one was a Gamespot review which I stopped reading after the whole Kane & Lynch fiasco and the other was a Game Informer review which should be an embarrassment to journalism. I swear after reading that review you'd wonder if Ben Reeves (the reviewer) had ever seen any of the movies in the franchises. I should have canceled my subscription right there (after 13 years) but I do use Game Informer for info, I just don't pay attention to reviews.

Im with you on that Mr Warrior cause people dont realize that a 70-75 review is considered good. Everyone wants 85-90's to look at a game as being real good,it doesnt work that way. However, this game is getting 50's by the legit sites and mags so I think that the "it still could be good" thinking goes out the window on this game. The only sites giving it something decent so far are the ones in kahoots with Metacritic and gamerankings. Theres a big stink these days that sites and mags can be paid off by the devs to give some great scores so people will see the avg on metacritic etc and buy the game.

Where did you hear that the demo is from code thats a year old? I doubt that, cause year old code wouldnt get approved by sony and Microsoft to be put online to their services....it would be way too buggy.

It says when you start the demo that it's an old code.

I was looking forward to it, but also have shyed away because of poor reviews. I tried the demo but it could never find players to let me join a game. I love the franchises, so i am very disappointed!

Bought it, played it, traded it in the same 12 hours.

The reviews are justified in its poorness. I only played 80% of the marine quest before I called it a day.

Graphically its what id consider below par for the xbox, nothing particularly special or overly polished. It largely resembles the pc graphics with a light revamping (This is on an hd tv as well its being played), not what I come to expect from games as largely awaited as this one. Dark to a fault in some parts as well, you never get to appreciate any indoor graphics when either your football sized spotlight iluminates them or your road flare lights up one square metres worth. I was told by the salesmen, play it in the dark, I fear that wouldve made little difference to the mood.

Gameplay, for the marine at least, never really felt like it got up to speed. Left behind by your squad from a bump on the head during landing and you awake to be walked through a series of unchallenging and mind numbingly linear plot points. Walk from Point A to Point B and revel in the challenge of shooting "xenomorphs"....sigh. Then when the predator did decide to show up, in something of a mid level boss style, he was beaten back in space of a few well placed sniper rifle rounds and onto Point C feeling no sense of achievement.

All in all reaching the last level in about 3 hours to be confounded by a seemingly endless stream of the bugs at a bridge, I lost my patience. Im prety good at FPS games, and being played on normal at the time, I felt this was maybe a last ditch attempt by game makers to present you with a genuine challenge. Sadly it infuriated more than anything else, I enjoy a challenge from a game, but when I feel like victim in a prison shower room attack its time to put the pad down and walk away.

I did try the predator missions, tutorial was simple enough, I felt the attacks I was privy to at the time never unleashed what we know a predator can do. The aliens...I never was a huge fan of so planned on leaving them til last if at all.

I am a fan of the series and felt robbed by the experience, maybe I set my sights to high or fell victim once again to the "hype" that always follow these games. Make your own decisions, but I have attempted to be non biased in my own approach. But if it helps any of you save £40 by reading this, so be it.

Good day gents.

I also played it and beat all playthroughs and I wouldn't say it was as bad as some reviews its worth renting if your a fan of either series you will enjoy something from the game. Definitely not worth buying imo. Also I thought the online play was pretty fun because of the variety of characters playing

I played Alien vs Predator, I thought it was good but I feel Alien would be played better at a third person view and maybe Predator at well.

- Yeah, i agree totaly

I got it on the PC, this could be an alright game but its full of bugs, dont even think about running it with directX 11! I'm sure that with a few updates it will be sorted but it makes it tough to enjoy it now. Over all its not too bad a game, they do try and fail to create the mood of the alien movies, which is a shame. By far the best is playing as the Alien, but i was hoping the Predator would be better.
