I think it's just that they focus too much on the girl or what's going on to look anywhere else, and then just sort of reflexively ask for an ID. I would say it's laziness, but in my opinion it takes more effort to ask for an ID than to look in the obvious and common places for a name. I've given an ID in here on a girl that I thought I knew who it was, and then confirmed it just by viewing the file name of the picture, which they could've done in the first place with two clicks instead of asking.
